Cannas, last look ...

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

One of my canna gardens as the season ends. A new garden that runs the length of my restored glasshouse still going up.
After a cold harsh spring followed by a hot dry summer, we are overdue for frost now in my part of the world.
Cannas are winding down, but still looking good. Though I sure will miss them when done )o;

Thanks (o:
Glasshouse is finally to where I am able to use part.
Cannas looked better, though .. before Isadore's remains hit here last week.

I'm so impressed with them, I've only got the ordinary ones that I've grown from seed, but I'm hoping to start a collection, especially after seeing that display.

Alice, the cannas are beautiful. Mine are winding down now with not a lot of bloom. My Valentine is sending up new bloom stalks and it is just so pretty. Thanks for posting this picture.

It is sad, isn't it to see our Loverlies gone for the season!! This is probably my least favorite time of the year for the garden!

Cannas here beat out frost last night. Yeah!! If they last tonight, they will make it a little longer.
My farmhouse is literally surrounded in blooming cannas. So very beautiful.
You are right 'eyes' ..a very sad timewhen our gardens are done.
Though I know they are not gone forever, I spend that day with tears in my eyes seeing them done.

abutilon, the seeds you gave me are now plants about a foot high...i don't think they'll bloom before the first frost, but i'm hoping. my mature cannas are still coming out with new flower pods, so we'll see!!

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

mama broke her foot right after i got back from the mana tour, and i had to quit working completely. i'm just now getting caught up on email and dgs, cuz peter put up a new computer system the kids bought downstairs, and also hooked up my laptop to roadrunner, so now i can work downstairs since i can't leave mama alone down here anymore. were you at the round up? i was only there for a 3 hour nap and one pic with smockette...fixin' to go look at the pics right now!

Dripping Springs, TX

Your house sounds like Chaos central. Hope everything gets better for you. I never made it to the round up--maybe next time.

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

i think it was a weekend of emergencies, from what i heard...i won't be traveling for a while!! yes, chaos central would be a good description of my home right about now...i still have about 300 spring bulbs sitting in my garage beginning to grow through the sawdust, cuz i have no time for planting anything and my yard has been completely dug up by the rock boys!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Meiyu, you poor thing...Hope your mama is doing better, and get the kids to help you plant all those bulbs. If I were closer, I'd be there in a inute to plant them for you.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

really Meiyu............. i hope everthing settles down for you and your Mom is doing better!
