repotting with pods

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I have at least one that now has seed pods that I really want to pot up from 3 gallon to bigger size for the winter. It's cool now, would it hurt the pods? Do NOT want to lose them.

TiG, it should be safe, I repotted one with buds the other day and it didn't even notice it had been moved. I moved Rosamond up from a 17 to 25 gallon pot, she had buds, blooms and pods, and didn't even notice either. She was a heavy one, trunk was as big around as my arm!!

good grief!! thanks, now if it's dried out enough I hope to get to it today.

When you get finished, you can come help me cart the big ones into the greenhouse. I have to figure out how to get a 10 ft brug thru a 6 ft door!!

are you already bringing all yours in??

Bill thinks there might be an early frost, and I figure even if it's a month away, I have lots to bring in and work on it a few at a time. 30 brugs spread out over 30 days isn't as bad as all at once, my back can't take that, besides gotta figure out where to put these huge tall ones.

ugh, I think I'm going back to bed. I can't handle even thinking about it yet!

I hope you feel better soon.

is that amber rose? dee dug up a 4 foot kyle's pink, it wilted, she took it home and it had blooms open 7 days after it was dug up.
Cala, i've been thinking early frost too, my hummers are gone, i see one every couple of days, not sure if it's passer throughs or one hanging out to fatten up with the others gone. it seems the years they leave earlier the frost is earlier, although still a ways off. and the dog fennel thing. and my luck!

yes, that's Amber Rose. she's a beauty. most of my hummers are gone. I guess I better get my rear in gear. :(

Bill uses an almanac calendar and it says frost here 15th of October, which is 2 weeks early. We need that frost thing Monika was talking about.

Our nights are getting pretty cold here, and my neighbor warned me about night frosts.I do not want to lose the only soon-to-bloom Culebra that I have,so I will once again haul them again for good this time tonight.Luckily, mine are not quite as big as yours Calalily!

Pretty brug....I did not realize Amber Rose was that pink. Sure is a nice one:)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

not really pink, it's peach stripes with yellow ribs. Like Spring Peach but not as dark. almost.

Hey Cala I should be the one you ask to come and help with the 10 footer. I have been getting my tall self through small door frames for a long time. LOL
Just tell it to duck when you get it close to the door.

I don't know anything about moving with pods, but I had to tell you what a beautiful bloom.

tiG, a couple of weeks ago we dug up all the Brugs that I'm going to keep. Some were 8' tall and full of seed pods. They have been blown over twice in the wind, been out in night temps of 38-40 degrees and now most are in the GH. So far all the pods are still on the plants. They're a lot stronger than they look.

cool, thanks all!

That is a very fine picture of Amber Rose indeed. She still has a versicolor type calyx clearly showing. I was looking at cotton candy and one can definitly tell that one has some versicolor heritage coming from a mixed source. As Butterfly is aurea x candida we can assume that is where the versicolor influence is coming from on that hybrid. Still, Cotton Candy shows some clearly blended versicolor calyx traits...so blended in fact that it leaves me to believe that perhaps Isabella is 1/3 or less versicolor herself. Sure would love to know the parentage of Isabella. Still rambling, but in short if one were going for a nice soft pink with with a need to see tons of variety from a single cross I think Amber Rose x Cotton Candy would give it to you and perhaps even a few dark pinks as well as Butterfly and Ecuador pink genes are rampant in such a cross as well. I know, I ramble too much. Its just that I like the mixed hybrids as they can be so veriable. That and I like to see how versicolor calyx traits blend in multiple crosses.

It is a prettty one Tig - I had not seen Amber Rose before - sure hope we can get together next week - looks like a rainy week-end coming up.
