Need your opinion please and thank you

I'm thinking of leaving my shelf plants on the shelf this year. The shelf is about 9 inches down from the surface of the water. I have always brought my plants in for winter except for the lilies which hang off pipes that extend across the pond from shelf to shelf so they are really deep in the water. The water garden is a little over 4 feet deep but is not level at the bottom so putting them down there is not an option. The water has never frozen other than a skim and we keep milk jugs floating in the pond in the winter anyway. It's mostly sweet flag and pickeral rush but I have some others which I probably would bring in. It's just that I'm running out of storage room for plants in the winter. I'm really interested in hearing from you people up north where it really gets cold. I appreciate any help you can give me on this. Thanks...

I leave everything in the pond except for the tropical's. I cut them all back and put them in the deepest part of the pond!
Even 2 year's ago when I did not have a de-icer and the pond froze the plant's survived!!!!!!

A couple of times I've left the cattails and sweetflag on the top shelf and they were fine.....

Vic, I leave my "hardy" plants both on the shelves and bottom. I've had some plants get a layer of ice on them and they've come back just fine. I do have a heater that I use in the "dead of winter" but you're in a warmer zone than I am. My personal opinion is you'd be fine. "T" :)

I leave my hardy plants out too. I do move the more tender hardy one down to the bottom of the pond till about March 15 but the others are fine.

I thank each of you so much for all you kind answers! I really appreciate your time! Thanks again..
