Arlene's Confererate Rose
ahhhhh the beautiful welcome flower of fall in the humid south, when we notice the hot humid days give way to .. well...more hot humid days, love bugs, monsoons and who could forget ..the increased chances of hurricanes!!! But, yes, the beauty of these wonderful trees/shrubs grace our landscapes reminding us all is well!
Sooo beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful. Awesome photos Floridian.
LOL Lisa! Well said!
It is beautiful isn't it CC?
Thanks Waterloo Lily
The plant was awesome...absolutely huge! Tons of buds.
LOL Floridian, I thought you'd like that one..hahaha
I had seeds for it but traded them away cause I had no clue what it looked like...bummin now.....
C.C. I have some here somewhere, you want?
Arethey hard to grow?
I am still seed challenged.....
Those are good pictures and I want to see Arlene's garden. Mine aren't blooming yet here in the Panhandle. I wonder if it is the gardner or the weather? I feel fall in the air even though it is 90 degrees. Are yours blooming Lisa?
So am I, that is why I still have 'em...grin :-)
weeds, sometimes the breeze makes me think of fall, i think we'll have early cold this year. mine has just started blooming.
Floridian was trying to post to the data base. i don't remember the name for this, but feel sure it is not a rosa sinensis hibiscus, and wonder if the PDB is right, as these are totally tropical.
if you guys don't know, i'll look later. Stacey takes great pics doesno't she? and she bakes!
Mine is about 8-10 ft tall - just getting buds, it's so tall I don't think I can get a good pic. Never saw a closeup before. I did think thaey had more layers of pettels tho - like a full double or triple Camellia.
weeds, I don't have any planted in my yard here, as we moved here only about 3 months ago, so I am still putting things in the ground. They are blooming all over around here.

PJ, mine is a single. gingerlily brought me a double one when she was here a month or so ago. do you know the real name for this? i just know it isn't rosa sinensis. i think....
No - the tall one I have is about 3 yrs old - thought they all were double, lol!! Then I have a couple that Dee brought to the Fl R -up,about 3ft tall & no buds, don't know what they are either. Didn't know there were different kinds! Ask Dee!
I have a single type, it came back up from last year. I have the one from the FLRU in the greenhouse, no blooms yet.
CC, if I can grow them from seed, I know you can.
Weeds, mine is blooming beautifully right now (the one that gets the most sun). There are a couple of small ones in a more shady area that are just getting ready to bloom. I thought the ones Dee brought to the swap were pink only and I don't know if they are double or single, it's not blooming.
It's beautiful Arlene. Everytime I see flowers like
that I start hounding my husband for a larger greenhouse.
In full bloom here, mine are doubles, like the one here in the link..

Well, at long last, today my old one opened, it is the dbl pink, I bought it 2-3 years ago. Now there are a few tiny buds coming on the one I got at the swap - not sure who brought them or if they are double or single. I think from Dee.
spledid photos of a beatiful flower.
I have one that is budded and about to bloom. I thought that it was a white but the bud is crackiing open and it is deep pink it looks like. Well I guess I will be looking at my very own CR bloom tomorrow or the next day. yeahhhhhhh
