I have a King Sago with a pup that looks exactly like the one you have in your picture. It measures 8' in diameter and is in great shape. The pup is apx 3'. The problem is that it's overgrown the area where it's planted and I want to sell it.

What's a fair price to ask? And, is it safe to be removed and transplanted? I live in Orange County, CA.

Thank you,

Pete Mitchell

I would love your opinion. I have what looks like a King Sago palm (female) planted in our front yard landscaping. When we bought our house two years ago it was probably a foot shorter and had no pups. It was a very healthy plant, with dark green coloring, 7-8 feet tall and had one exposed trunk. Since then the base is surrounded by pups that look incredibly healthy and are becoming overgrown. The trunk is no longer visible. I thought that the pups were sucking the life out of the mother plant, because the lowest circle of leaves (fronds?) on the mom are drying out. But the mom has had at least two major healthy shoots right up the center of the plant, which have fanned our to join the others. What can I do to keep the mom plant healthy and make the area look neat again? Can I safely remove the pups (and transplant them) or must I allow nature to take its course? Thanks!
