A race against time

My nice Brug has lots of flower pods now that it's late in the season. I'll definitely have one or two blooms within the next couple of days........ but......

there are so many wee buds popping up from everywhere now, and I hope they will bloom before the frost comes.....

so I even put a sunshade over the plant at night to keep them from getting any cold dew on them in the night...... daft or what??

Should I forget it and just let them 'chill' lol, or do you think I may see more than 3 flowers.

*hoping*

Wintermoor, we already had our first frost and my plants are all in a sheltered position. Tonight, it will be another frost night. I would advise, to buy a frost watcher. Mine is already 8 years old but is like a finger on my hand. It tells me, if its gone freeze that night.
I have too many plants, so I have to start early with pruning, but I know, when danger is coming up.

Monika what's a frost watcher? I never heard of such a thing. I need one!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

It is a Hygromat. In the afternoon or at sundown, it tells you, if the temperatures drop under the freezing point.
Its to 99% reliable.

Hmmm - I'll have to look for one of those. Thanks!

I need one too, we are in a valley, it frosts before the city does. If their weather says 42*, I will cover, because we can be 10* colder.(that's *F)

Is it the same thing as a Hygrometer?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

In doing a search, there is more than one kind of hybrometer. You would want to look for the Frost Point Hygrometer.
