And he's not even four feet tall yet!
Dr D is quite the bloomer
tiG - are you sure this is Dr D? It looks different than mine.
I got it from Eric. I have two blooming and they have the exact same bloom and growth pattern (wide and spreading) it's orangier than it appears.
tiG - look at Snow's - http://davesgarden.com/fp.php?pid=36848 I only had one flower on mine and it paled in comparison to hers but the bloom and leaves were the same.
he's rushing to move. but he told me it can range from peach to orange depending on the weather. he did look at the pics.
I was under the impression Dr D was pink......why ,I don't know
i saw a dr d bloom once when i met eric. i killed my seedling. it was quite peach, my impression was it was darker than spring peach. was in i think late october of last year.
speaking of his, i got a cutting of one of his yellow seedlings from robin in june and it has started blooming, the yummiest color between yellow and peach.
it's really golden/orange. he said this was one that changes a lot
I wonder if they should be discribed as changables...like waterlilies are.Maybe thats why so many are misidentified
Very pretty! You take nice pics, tiG:)
I went out to look at mine again. The leaves are a little velvety and smooth (not serrated) - and there's one split in the calyx. The first bloom hung sraight down like a versi-color. The corolla is poking out of a couple of the buds now. It should be open in a couple of days.
Dr.D gets its shape from Ecuador pink primarily and it is most often a peach color. It has a versicolor calyx as well and hangs straight down. The angle and the calyx on this one are all wrong. Sorry if I sent this one to you Tig. My deepest apologies.
dont' apologize!!! now I need a cutting of snows Dr D!!!
I'll hunt one up tiG.
thank you doll!!!
Your welcome. :)
