Good morning farmers. It's partly cloudy today, was down near freezing again last night but so far no frost damage. I noticed that the birds are eating the elderberries so I started picking them, got a bucket full already and probably there are that many left. I'll make juice next week but couldn't wait that long to pick them or there would be nothing left. Beans need picking too, and I'll see about the tomatoes.
Lots to do today, packing for my weekend endurance ride as well as all the home stuff. I'll be leaving pretty early in the morning. The ride is in the mountains of central Washington this time, west of Wenatchee. All the profit from the ride goes to a Christian boy's ranch that works with troubled kids. The leaves will be in all their glorious fall colors among the evergreens, and dry weather is forecast. What could be better? I have done this ride in years past when it rained all day, 75 miles in the rain is not fun when you are miserable. That's part of why they call this endurance, some days you endure the trail, some days you endure the horse, sometimes it's the weather, and sometimes all of that. Ha, more good than bad though.
Have a great weekend everyone, count your blessings.
