Ursaline x Cuba foliage

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Arlene - does your Cuba have serrated leaves like this? It doesn't look like I'll get blooms on this one - it still hasn't Yed. I think I'm going to winter it anyhow cuz I like the foliage so much. I don't think a bug has touched any of the leaves on it all summer.

I love that foliage. I'd keep it just for the leaves, you can always work on the color.
I'll have to look at mine. I have one from TiG that's bloomed, love the flowers. Beside it is a totally different plant, looks like it comes from the same stem, but maybe not.

Poppysue, mine doesn't! those are so pretty. and the bugs love mine, i don't know how many tiny pods fell off before they started taking. i hope you do keep it, will love to see the blooms. you certainly have different leaf genes than mine.

Here's another Ursaline seedling with extreme serrated leaves. This one is really fuzzy. I don't have any blooms to look at so I've been admiring their foliage - lol. No Ys on this one either - and no bugs. This one has stayed really short but the trunk is sturdy and thick.

That's not frost - it's the morning dew.

I love those leaves. Wouldn't the color of Eventide look great with leaves like that?

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Beautiful leaves . . wouldn't it be wonderful if the flower was equally as pretty.

Wouldn't a big huge dark pink look great with those leaves?

Poppy, None of mine are serrated like yours. I have one that's slightly serrated, not sure which cross till I go out and look at tag.Mine grew over 8ft high before they Y'd and bloomed. Very thick sturdy trunks on them.

I've got some like this, they stand out in a crowd! hope the flowers are pretty.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

I love the first one..awesome foliage..mine are narrow pointed leaves with NO serration. Go figure....LOL

Okay - you all have talked me into keeping these ones. I've air layered all those that have Yed - but I'll have to dig these two up. I sure wish they'd bloom. Do you think cooler weather causes the brugs to Y and set buds quicker? I was wondering if it might be their last ditch effort to bloom before winter. It seems like almost all of my plants are setting buds now. It's driving me crazy not to see the flowers.

mine are all Y ing too sue,I wonder if it's 'cause we have such a short growing season, and they are just now coming into their own season(to be quickly cut short by frost)

Mine just finished a big flush and are loaded again with buds. Hope the frost holds off till after H-ween.
