Harvested a pod

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

From Versicolor Orange. The penduncle was yellow and the pod was squishy. The spoon is there for size comparison.

That's a biggie! Cala - I've been squeezing my pods:) See what you did to us!

I'm doing better this year, none of mine have little slits in them from the razor!!

Cala maybe you should move to your farm....i cannot believe how many seeds you have and will be having.... do you think the whiskers X ep will make white babies? i am thinking with whiskers aurea and EP versi they should make some really pretty candida types.

Cala...Thanks for the pod pics. This is the first year that I'm attempting to cross some brugs and any learning tools (pics) are really appreciated. Especially....by us newbies.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

What did you cross it with?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I didn't do the cross, the bees or moths did. It was on a plant here at the house, I didn't cross any of them but must have a hundred pods.

*LOL* Congrats with the pod, Cala. In a way bee`s choice is as interesting as a planned cross. I planned lots of crosses, but has still more pods, that was planned by the bees. :)

Tonny
I crossed the ones at the Greenhouse because I knew if they didn't ripen I could bring the big pots inside, the ones at the house are going to be left in the ground, but I'll probably go ahead and root the limbs with pods. I just can't let them waste, what if it's the seed for a double pink? LOL, we have it bad don't we?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Tonny, i've been thinking the same thing about pods, i have a few pods X moth or X bee, will be interesting to see what nature does with them.
it'll be cala brugseed, crossing the country and planting brugs everywhere....

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I'll be famous(or infamous, lol)

Poor you, Cala, about all the Brugs outside. *LOL* No, I thought, what about air-layering them. I think Monika said something about pods on cuttings would stagnate development, but by air-layering the pods will still be in contact with the mother. I don`t know, who I try to chet here. Monika or the pods on your plants, Cala. *LOL* Well just an idea. :) Pleeease, don`t loose a possible dbl. pink. *LOL*

Arlene, precisely! It will also help in explaining, why natural hybrids come out as they do. Most of the Brugmansia x bees is on Cumbaya and Morgensonne, but also Mittagssonne and a few on Hertchenbrücke. Bees have their clear favorites. I had many different hybrids bloomig, when I left over to the bees, but they seem to prefer suaveolens and x insignis over all other Brugs. *LOL* Here comes a lot of new frosty pinks and hundreds of new white`s. *LOL* However, I won`t miss, if there should be a few nice colored among them. :)

Tonny, I noticed that too, and they like white ones.

Hamilton, Canada

Have to go back and check which ones are sisters Tonny...but you may have some gorgeous yellows very close to the parent plants from Dr. Priessel's hybrids.

Cala could you save me some of the versicolor orange seeds? I'm on a roll for some orange colored plants...hopefully there will be something pretty from the bee cross.
