Is now the time to take cuttings and how do you root them? Of the 3 that have survived for me, 2 did not bloom so I guess I will not get cuttings from them, but one is going to bloom any day and I want to take cuttings from them.
My spousal unit saw 3 bruggies in full bloom today and was amazed. He REALLY wants these things. I would like to show him the ally that monika has, when some of the folks from the U.S. visited her. Can you all lead me to that photo? I have tried finding it, but now have permanent vision damage after wading through 20 pages so far......lol

Are you referring to the photo of Monika's alley that Kell doctored?
Yes I think so. I saw pictures of some visitors from here at the alley. But I can't find them. What about the rooting? Do I strip all but the upper leaves and dip them in Rootone? and root in soil? or root in water?
First use disinfected clippers when you move from plant to plant. Clip anywhere you want above the main Y of the stem or any of the side shoots or shoots coming up from the ground. Take off the big leaves and leave the newest leaves. Most will start to put out white pre-roots in a few days. You can, but often don't need to, use rooting solution. Then pop into clean light soil and put in bright light, but not full sun. Water when they go into the soil - then don't water again until they look desperate. Resist the urge to keep watering - they will rot.
Frankly - I can't find anything anymore now that the search has changed. But I'll look.
Here is one - there is another with dave in it but he might have pulled it.

If you go into search and type in Monika's Alley - the rest should show up.
woodspirit, why don't you think about storing them in a garage/spare room? they will lose leaves but they'll grow back.
Well, I have a very small house but there is a small basement room that spousal unit uses for a pottery studio. It's not heated most of the time in the winter, but still, it doesn't freeze.
I also have access to the basement in Silvermont, a county-owned mansion where archives (that I run) is located. Maybe I can put some things there........
My biggest plant that has buds on it is already at Silvermont, so I can store it in the basement for the winter, there too.
Thank you all for your help. I am a bruggie newbie!
others can help you more, i think they just let them go dormant and water a little once in a while, every week or month or something in between. you'll be really glad i think if you store what you can.
