Is this plant a vine?

I have a sweet autumn clematis that is growing up the deck post and across both ways. It is quite huge. It hasn't bloomed yet but I have read that it might take several years in the ground to do so. It is a lovely plant and I anxiously await the blossoms, which I understand are quite fragrant.

I have a Sweet Autumn Clematis that I planted in a container on my balcony this year. It's growing along the railing. It began blooming in early September, and while not a large vine yet, it's beautiful, but not fragrant. The blossoms are about 1/2" in diameter.
