My first brug flowers! I think I'm in love!!!!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I finally got my first brug flowers and I am so in love with them. They are so pretty!!! I have been bringing them in every night because it's so windy and we have had our first frost already. Tonight when I brought them in, they opened up! I think I may be addicted now. LOL! These are Dr. Suess.

Beautiful, and don't they smell wonderful. Another one bites the dust, it gets worse, I mean the addiction. Happy growing.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

and that beauty will just deepen it's color. a good one for a first bloom!!! there's no going back now Joan, just relax and enjoy it!

They are beautiful Joan. I know what you mean, atleast it's a good addiction.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Isn't that fragrance something else? I have a hard time pulling myself away from Dr. Suess when he smelling so good.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Tonight when our son Jaden came into the kitchen, where the brugs are for the night, he asked what that smell was! LOL! It's the brugs. He walked over to them and put his nose right into one of the flowers. I so wish I would have had a camera handy. That was a classic. Big, tough football hero with his nose in a brug! LOL! The fragrance is lovely! I am definitely hooked. Big time!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Congratulations Joan!! You'll have them all over the house now.

(Zone 6a)

Nice going Joan:) I remember back in early July when my first brug bloomed. It too was a Dr. Seuss. It is gonna be blooming again in about a week or so.....has about 300 buds on it right now! And then the first frost will not be far behind:)

Owen

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

owen, may we all have 300 buds next year!! we've learned so much this year.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Amen to that tiG. I can't believe the amount of knowledge I've learned from everyone here in a years time.

(Zone 6a)

tiG.....Sure have learned a lot this year....wish my other brugs were only half as prolific as my Dr. Seuss:) My pretty EP has only 5 blooms on it....and frost will be here before it has a chance to bloom again. sob sob:)

Congrats. You're addicted now. LOL

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I have an Ollie brug that I started from seed that Gloria sent me that's has one bud on it. She said it's an LBJ cross, and I'm anticipating that one opening soon. I don't know for sure what color it will be, but Gloria said it could turn out to be white. I don't have anything against white though. I just love these plants.

I'm gonna dig out the greenhouse plans to hit DH with again later this winter, once he gets over the housebuilding aches and pains. LOL! He promised me a greenhouse after the house was built and I haven't forgotten.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Congratulations Joan :). all the patience sure paid off didn't it LOL! so happy for u.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Joan, your brug sure is a special looking one! Congrats!!

Nice picture Joan....please post one of the Ollie Hybrid when it blooms.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

You can look at photos all day and they look good. But one must experience the brug in person to really appreciate it's beauty. Joan that is great and I know you are proud.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Congratulations, Joan! Once your hooked, there is no cure!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

u can say that again Monika :D!!! we're taken hooked, line and sinker LOL!!!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Thank you all! Yes, I am very proud. I just can't seem to keep away from them. I will post a picture of the Ollie when it blooms Gloria.

Joan, Monika is right! *LOL* Just one Brug and you are in the danger zone. Two or more is addiction. I have heard of those, that just saw the word spelled on the internet and nothing can save these poor souls now. Only the latest new Brugs can give them a shortlived rest, but then there will be new, and new and new ...

Sincerely Tonny, a Brug wreck. *LOL*

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Yep, I'm starting to recognize the signs of addiction already. LOL! Before they bloomed, I liked them a lot, but now that I've seen and smelled an actual bloom, I'm hooked. I've spent a good amount of time on the internet checking out all the different brugs too. At this rate, by next summer I'll be trying to pollinate them.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

that is so true Tonny! A Brug wreck!! I am one also. All summer I have been in a in a tiz over how big mine are, are the growing well, are they being fed enough, are they clean, did I remember to shower them daily, pick off any bugs, change their diapers.................

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Joan, you yellow brug is very pretty. I've always been partial to yellow and orange until this year when I got a couple of beautiful pink brugs. I started with about 50 this year, but will knock it down to about 30 for the winter and then start again with some new seedlings added for spring. The only cure for a brug addict is to get more brugs and hybridize. Yep, you will be doing that, for sure, before long. I used to think that I wanted one of everything, but now I just want to try to get deeper colors, ruffles around the skirt, and long tendrils. Of course, the leaves being big, and different would be nice too. Always something to try for. Enjoy your baby and be sure to let us know if there is anything we can help you with. I have a lot going to compost this fall. If you want any of them, you are welcome to them. I enjoy helping a new brug addict get his/her fix. :-)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Brugie, your taste sounds just like mine!!!
I want girlie girl brugs of color!!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Thanks Brugie! If you have a cutting of some pinks, I would love one. Pink is my favorite color. Let me know when they get closer to the compost pile.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Joan, I can cut them any time. The blooming is done for this season, so I'm just hanging around waiting for someone to either dig them and take them home or if that doesn't happen, out comes the chain saw and they will be toast. Email me with what you would like.
