How long does it still good for Datura and Brugsmanisa seeds?
I forgot who said that one of said that Datura seeds still good up to 40 years but I doubt is that true?
Does anyone know about the seeds??
An experiment over two or more generations of scientists proved, that they would live longer, that 40 years. I will see if I cn findthe papers for you some day to give you the exactly number of years thaycan live and be good. I remember the seeds in the experiment was dig down in the ground. Fresh Datura seeds can germinate right from the fruits in a few species, but most Datura species has to age for a year or two and need frost and alternating weather to germinate. D. ceratocaula and D. quercifolia is hard to germinate in a sow pot. My experiments say that probably 2-4 seeds out of 100 will germinate within the first year. However, if you take seeds of these same species and let them be on the ground through winter, you will have them as weeds all over the next summer.
Its different with Brugmansia seeds. The more fresh, the faster and the more they germinate. Already after 2-5 years germination is a question of trained patience, but maybe half of the seeds or more will germinate eventually, but most inexperienced growers have thrown the seeds away long before that can happen. :) I don`t know anything aboug 10 years old Brugmansia seeds. If someone can answer you about that, it will be Monika. :)
Thanks Tonny so I hope Monika will tell me about this.
