EK3 again

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

the second and third flowers are truly the deep thick color of Pink Beauty, not melon anymore. Don't know if feeding schedule or weather had anything to do with it. and it's cooler now too. But it's dark and I love it. Hope some of my crosses took.

Owen

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

wonderful, is it as pretty as you hoped???

Hamilton, Canada

TiG you definately have to find pretty names for your series of PINKS from Eric...gosh they are beautiful...the two of you must be so proud!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I am for sure. would love to see this in a smaller flower and in a shape that holds all day like Spring Peach. Pink Beauty does hold a wonderful shape, but want a different one:) I have what is supposed to be a white aurea that is getting close to bloom and another Spring Peach, they will get a dose of this pollen.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

tiG, I love the color and shape of this flower.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

it likes it cooler that's for sure. collapes when it's hot (but then so do I :) but even then it's a pretty color. I hope Eric likes it. guess I need name suggestions:)

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Like that one best of all. It is cooler here, 60's, 40's at night, brrr....

Hamilton, Canada

TiG can you do those postings with multiple flowers in one shot so we can compare all the colors together? Maybe it might be easier to name them that way.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Wow tiG! Beautiful.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

here are shots, color never played with. 3 more to come

TiG are these all E3? I meant for you to post E3, E7, E?# in a series so we can compare the colors...sorry if I wasn't very clear. Can you start a fresh post with the comparisons? Thanks...I'm going to look in the book of baby names...be right back!

(Zone 6a)

Yes, tiG, my EP was all I had hoped for......still would be nice to have a pink that stayed open all day though:)

Owen

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh joydie, sorry. they aren't the same crosses. will do a comparison of the Dr D x Bfly when they have all bloomed. Have several more that have buds.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

still hoping that the comparison pics will help someone come up with clues for a name. these pics are all the same plant. and I'm just numbering them as they bloom. I've got to get out there and just number them all so I'm ready when I have to cut them back. right now they just have the cross and planted dates on the tags.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

tig, is it a heavy bloomer. that seems to be a very big thing for me to want in a brug now days! brugie, did you put a name on your isabella x bf that is a heavy bloomer?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Arlene, I've been trying to think of something appropriate, but haven't come up with anything. How about some suggestions from some of you.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

tiG, when my kids went to the Language Academy and studied Spanish, they learned pink as Rosado. What do you think of that?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

there are so many already that start with Rosa, rose, etc. I like Dusty Rose, as it is a dusty color. still thinking, along those lines. arlene, she just started and is covered in buds.
I believe due to growth, shape and everything considered that the first one I posted as ? x Bfly (EK2) isn't. that it is DrD x Bfly, they all have the same shape, flower shape, etc. just different colors. The mother will never be known for sure, because that's back when 'you know who' got stuff stirred up and tags were pulled. The seeds were marked ? x Bfly, and it looks nothing like the one that I know is I x B. Eric mentioned Isabella in the post, but I don't think so. But anyway I did name it Cotton Candy cause the edges look like cotton candy does when you get it wet.

Hamilton, Canada

So that's maybe 2 named from the series...Cotton Candy and Dusty Rose....hmmmm what about "Dusky Rose" so there isn't any infringement on the name dusty rose? I looked at the flower color again and you are right...it really does look dusty rose of sorts...so pretty...reminds me of that really hot pink lipstick back in the 60's...lol. Did you put Cotton Candy in the database already with the hybridize and characteristics?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I like Chalina, wonder what the exact translation is??

Hamilton, Canada

Chalina is another word to replace the name Rose in Spanish...out of spanish translation thesasaurus.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

tig, i messed up my tags last winter, still have some unmarked. at least i pretty much know what to look for in the ones that still haven't bloomed, still in pots!!! Stacy and Dee are gonna help me out and take home a bunch more of mine! i am so overwhelmed!
i should have remembered cotton candy!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

which makes you think of a deep pink, soon to turn to or just turned from purple sky? dawn, daybreak or dusk?? working towards something like this, maybe:)

TiG I think I have it...Azure is mauvy pink...

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

azure is blue, right?? i like it, but don't want to mislead. in the US anyway, azure is always blue. loved Chalina, but cristina says it's a shawl, and not really a color, and that's all I could find on google too.
If you get it just right, and the pods take, I'll send whoever seeds from ek3 x Butterfly. if they don't take, I'll send good seeds, I have a lot of really good crosses trying to set.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Are you giving seeds away to the person who comes up with the best name? did i read it right?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Ok lets try this:

"Spinel" is a cousin of ruby, but its pinker color.

edited to add this information I also found:

"Spinel: Collector Favorite Spinel is the great imposter of gemstone history: many famous rubies in crown jewels around the world are actually spinel."

Here's another one"

Rhodochrosite (whose name means rose-colored) is a very attractive mineral with an absolutely one-of-a-kind, beautiful color. The color of a single crystal can just astound the observer with its vivid pink-rose color that seems to be transmitted out of the crystal as if lit from within.
