Eric's cross-new bloom

Hamilton, Canada

I have no idea the parentage of this one as the seed's parentage weren't labelled. Its a brilliant white with ruffled flowers. It has a wonderful fragrance like GARDENIAS!!! Sorry I don't have a camera to post pic as this one is in a huge pot and I only have a web cam.

Eric's seedlings and crosses all smell fabulous.

I bet it's a beauty and I love the smell of gardenias.

TiG the aroma is just soooo soothing! I can smell it coming through the Living room window. Suaveolens smells more sweet and fruity, but the hybrid is absolutle wonderful...just wish i had pollen for this hybrid to continue the ruffled edge. Its now fully open and measure 9" across the diameter...This is a keeper for breeding for sure!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

nothing like having a pretty seedling open for the first time.

I got another pink tonight, will take pictures in the morning. Dr D x Bfly and it smells divine too. I love walking outside at night!

This is my first seedling to flower from Eric's crosses. I'm in heaven, I've been out there admiring it at least a dozen times now. The calyx pod was really fat and now I understand why...its the fullness of the flower....gosh I feel so blessed...I have another of his seedlings with a really fat calyx pod but the pod is only about 2" long...can hardly wait to see what that one turns out like.

Oh my gosh TiG...yet another pink!! wow...I hope you name all of those hybrids so you can have a series!!

Arlene, yes it is amazing to see these seedlings to come into fruition. I'm feeling really humbled. Its an amazing moment! I only have suaveolens alba blooming so I put the pollen on Eric's flowers just to see if I can pollinate properly. I did the cross both ways. Lets hope I get a pod so I know I'm doing it correctly.

Brugnanny, I got gardenia from a grocery store this spring for the first time this year. I took tons of cuttings and managed to get a half dozen to root by trial and error...the flowers smell divine!

I took a good look at the flower this morning. It doesn't really hang down, but is horizontal. I went back and read Kyle's post about his brug that is getting a reprieve from the compost heap and my flower is pleated/ruffled just like his, but without the faint pink tone. Here is the link to Kyle's brug flower again.
