Whole shrub, September 2002. This is growing in the New Forest, S. England.

This plant and all others around it should be eradicated immediately!! It spreads like the speed of light and it is vicious! The thorns are like swords and it grows dense and thick. If let be it will become a no mans land of dense, thorny brush. Also, and the meanest part about it is that it contains lots of oil in its structure. The interior of the plant gets dry and dead. Then, if a spark ignites it, it becomes a powder keg. Whole towns have buned because of this plant! And, last but not least, it is Really ugly!
