Perlmutts for monika

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

if the poor dear gets another break today. both planted the same day, mid march, and one is very normal and the other isn't. I did repot the smaller one into a 3 gallon pot with new soil, but it didn't have much of a root system. I thought for sure that it wouldn't make it when I saw that, but it's doing fine. just not growing and weird leaves. It's about 6-8" tall. the normal one is 4'.

Well mine isn't tiny, it's about 5feet now. It has a thick stem and the leaves are about 7 inches long but less than an inch wide. It sends out pencil width branches along the stem that quickly lenghten to branch size.

Its truly a mystery.

Tig, I have 2 little ones like that and a larger one with funny leaves. I didn't do anything different to the three of them. Let's hope they stay alive and we get miniature brugs. The little ones have little Y's on them too.

Take very good care of those babies. Who knows, they might be on the 10 most wanted cuttings list next year. :)
