is this normal?

i can't believe this...my double purple datura is only maybe 3 inches tall, and already has 4 flower pods!! is this normal? how can the plant hold the weight of the flowers?? the first one is shown here in the center of the plant, there are 3 more little ones coming up behind it!!

Sometimes they do this in the fall. Their internal clock might know it's fall and time to make seeds to survive.

wow...do you think it will be able to bloom since the plant is so small and the blooms are so heavy? i'm so excited because it's my first datura. jim gave it to me a month ago and i almost killed it, i thought...i've never even seen a real live datura bloom yet (only pictures)!


It will bloom alright. Cala is right about it theDaturas inner clock. It could also being, that you are in one of the warmer zones. When I grow Datura in the garden, none makes the Y before after the 9th or 11th leaf, but in my GH they Y after 4-5(6) leaves. :)
