Oh No! not again!!!!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

this brug i received with a tag of yellow brug. the calyx is only 1", corolla is 9". color confuses me it look pink on the photo but is light peach in natural color. i thought it is another Isabella, but calyx on Isabella is 4", corolla is 8".

do i have another Isabella here? appreciate all the help i can get to identify this confused brug LOL!! or is it that i am the one confuse, i wonder LOL?

this brug partly opened this morning. Isabella has lots of buds ready to open. other brugs i have on the ground is inundated with buds. i just hope not all of them will have the same color. the mystery goes on... LOL!!!

i hoped so Tonny :)! am beginning to wonder myself, if the soil around me have such strong influenced on the brugs i grow, they all decide to come out to almost the same shade in color LOL! don't get me wrong, i love pastel colors, but not all the same color! LOL!

here is the Isabella that was identified for me before.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Snow,

am getting confuse with these brugs i grow. one was labeled white turned to be identified as Isabela. i was wondering if it is Insignis Pink??? now this one is labeled yellow, the color is far lighter than the Isabela i am supposed to have LOL!

it would seems like the the pepto garden is rubbing on my yard. everything is light pink or light peach in color. if not mistaken, Kell must have pass the curse on me.ROTFLOL!!!

Kell, i hope CG is not going to turn pink on me too LOL!!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

MaVie, We are all confused especially with the pinks and now the bought ones are not labeled properly. That's the reason so many of my big plants are being thrown away.If I'm unsure of what it is it's going over the bank. I won't give cuttings out unless I know for sure what it is.It will only add to the confusion next year.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL you Wild Librarian you!! It is very pretty regardless! The thingey at the end of the corolla is so very long. I have never seen one with such a skinny tube!
If CG is pink you are in real trouble!! LOL

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

no kell, if CG is pink, you are in trouble!! LOL!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL tiG, you are right!!

the little nursery up the street from me starting with brugs the year after i told them about them. this spring they had a tray of baby starters labeled yellow brugs. i told them they wouldn't come true, and there was no telling what they are. i bet this is happening in other places too. i haven't seen a short calyx that before. i'm glad it's pretty, and not a common white.
snow, i have been practicing, i shovel pruned an unknown pink because it didn't bloom much anyway, same color as frosty, and have put some cuttings in the compost. especially if it isn't a good bloomer, don't want them passed on. i have gotten so many sent to me mislabeled, it makes it awfully hard. then i have mixed up some of my own on top of that.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

i step outside for a bit to take a whip of their fragrance, this unknown one smells so sweet, it is almost intoxicating! the alleged Isabela is sweet but with faint fragrance. can it be by chance Insignis Pink?

check this out, another one that is so heavy in buds is Insignis Pink that tiG gave me.

my. my!!! the strong winds today is coming from the north going southward, Kell did u send the pepto curse on my yard? another one that Cala sent me, is barely a foot tall and is heavy in buds too, that one is Ecuador pink! gee whiz!!!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

isabella doesn't have s strong scent, at least to me. you will love ecuador pink! i'll love mine if it blooms this year!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Arlene, what about Insignis Pink fragrance? is it sweet and strong?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Ma Vie rose email me about this one..I'll look tonight when I get off work! :-)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So in Ma Vie's first set of pictures, isn't it different to have such a long skinny corolla tube and I do not even see much of a calyx.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

i will Kyle. thx

Ms. Kell, they are both in in bloom and open. i will take another shot. brb!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Kell, i do not know if i can post both photo at same time. i guess i have to do it separately. here is one for the Isabella brug. am not too sure if it is really Isabela, am new to growing brug. the length of corolla = 8", width not to sure as bloom is partly opened =6" in circumference, calyx is 1". color is somewhat pale pink to peach? fragrance is mild.

edited to properly identify this brug as INSIGNIS PINK, accdg to Kyle. finally the mystery is solved :)!!!!

this photo of the unknown brug, labelled as yellow brug. corolla = 10". bloom still partly open so not too sure of circumference, about 7". calyx is 4". color pink to peach is far more darker compared to Isabella? fragrance is sweet but strong, almost intoxicating.

edited to properly name this brug to be ISABELLA accdg to Kyle.

I'm not good at this, but I would be tempted to think that the first ones you have marked Isabella? might be Insignis Pink and the second pictures could be Isabella or Frosty Pink. I have all of these and honestly, at times I think I have one variety because they all look so much alike. I'm no expert at putting a name on brugs, and if you don't get an ID for them, just enjoy. If you want to do hybridizing though, be sure to get the correct ID or ask for new cuttings from someone who has their brugs correctly marked. We have all had this problem in the past and I, for one, am still trying to get some brugs named correctly. If I can't, I'll probably compost.

thanks S. :)! i just want to know the right identity, in case i will have the opportunity to learn how to pollinate them in the near future. i believe u are right, i have that sneaky suspicion too. but since i am a newbie, i can not verify since there are no book i am aware to know the distinction of each brug in existence.

i sure hope Kyle would be able to help unfold this mystery. i wish Eric would jump in too.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

S., u were right!!!! that has been verified by Kyle... just as u predicted, and confirmed by Kyle. i am so happy! now that the unidentified brugs finally has a name to them!!!

i edited the post with the photos and gave the right names. good night all. am so happy the mystery is finally solved :)!
