I was up on a step ladder, pollen in hand, light rain falling(yes, DH knows I've lost it for sure now)camera hung on my beltloop, pollen canister tucked into my pocket, Sharpie pen in my mouth and artists brush in hand when I looked up and saw this "blob" of green. I didn't know what it was, he was hidden pretty good. He's used to me crawling around in the brugs so he didn't even bother to move out of the way. He is usually inside the Jungle House but came out for a shower I guess.
What's this on my leaf???
LOL Are you sure you got his best side???
Either, I dont know what it is.. He looks cute! LOL
It's a tree frog.
I love frogs!
I was sitting on the deck after dark a couple of weeks ago and one jumped from the tree and landed on my glasses. Gosh, I thought I was going to have heart failure. Then about 10 minutes later one jumped on my leg. They feel so cold. Everyone thought it was so funny, but it wasn't them that had frog all over them. :-) I love to listen to them talk.
They also take care of your BUGS, and brugs.
They eat a lot of Bugs.
lol cala, send some over to me....I dont have any. do they like your brugs? We must have some close by in the neighbourhood, cause sometimes I will hear them, and you know what is eerie....when they are yip yapping all in unison then they all stop at the exact same time. no stragglers no nothing. it's just a very definite stop...
sounds like the frogs love you Brugie!
Somebody has to........... :-)
Oh Brugie, I would love to have seen that. I've had the frogs jump out on me, scares me a bit!!
The tree frogs love the brugs, I've seen bunches of them all colors and sizes.
Remember those baby lady bugs I posted a pic of? They have completely cleaned up the acnistus that was infested with aphids. They are changing to adults.
Wish I had something to clean up the mites. Well actually, since we had a couple of cold nights, the mites population has decreased a bunch. I think I'll start taking cuttings in a couple of weeks or sooner if the weather changes drastically. Hope anyone who gets cuttings from me will keep an eye open for bugs. I always spray before sending, but you never know with the little critters.
Brugie, I doubt if any of us are bug free. I think I accidentaly sent out some with mealy bugs. I found them on some plants after I'd sent cuttings out.
I just want to be sure that people know to always check on anything they receive just to be safe. I know that I have mites and hate to send them on, so I do take precautions, but sometimes it just isn't enough. It certainly isn't intentional if they come with the plant, even tho they are free!! :-)
Its a tree frogs butt!!LOL
We only get the grey ones,I wanna green one.Can they live in the GH over the winter?
CC, I don't know if they go into dormancy in the greenhouse, but I keep little mini ponds of water plants inside in the winter. I'll watch this year and see. We have 7 varieties here in Tennessee, several kinds live around the greenhouse.
I'm going to have a small pond in mine so if I see a tree frog he's gunna be a GH frog
Cute frog! I also had a frog experience, I was taking pictures out by the pool and this frog hopped out of the pool, over to me, up my leg, onto my hand and just looked at me for a moment. Then onto my head and off into the bushes. My arm wasn't long enough (still isn't for that matter)to get a picture of him on my hand, he was blurry but the background was in sharp focus! I'll post him over in wildlife if I have the picture here at work.
Floridan, isn't it neat when they do that? Startles me at first, then I get a good laugh!! Do you feel like you were used as a ladder?
The first year I had a pond(actually a 20 gallon pot with water plants in it)there was a tree frog that lived in it. He would go out at night and stay in the trees and every morning he came back to the pond. Several times while hopping from the tree to the pond, he would land on me, then hop over to the pond. I was always glad he didn't hop into my coffee cup.
Gee I don't know whether I'd prefer a frog or puppy lips in my coffee. I set my coffee down to take a picture this morning and my puppy drank most of it...ICK!
Nice to know you have such a good relationship with all your wildlife!
I try to be careful what I spray, we love the critters(well, most of them) that come around and figure they all fit into the main scheme of things. Which reminds me, gotta feed the birds this morning.
