This was last night ....i love the scent of this one.And the color is so rich.
Jean Pasko
Love that one. I have ONE huge bloom, all the rest fell off!
mine probably won't bloom this year, but it's a good grower.
I accidently sent mine to someone, so no JP for me this year. It is a good bloomer and strong plant. Blooms are large and pretty. Can't complain about this one.
Eclipse, have you ever seen a red edge? i really like this one too, but it is one that got behind on fertilizer early on.
Shirley, I'll have cuttings.
Thanks tiG, but I think Hibiscus is starting me one or sending cuttings unless her brug didn't grow enough with the drought they had. I'm sure she will post. If not, I could probably get one from Kyle too. I'll get one someplace..........no problem.
I have it rooted and growing for you Brugie! My momma is 6' tall, one bloom, wow, I'm so.... excited!!! I am sure it will get more before I have to bring it in, but when the nights got cold, buds dropped on all my brugs. Been waiting and fertilizing them all summer!!! DANG!!
oh noooooooooo, so sorry Gloria, that's terrible!
Is there anything else besides cool weather that could cause the buds to drop? Mine haven't lost buds other than HG and I think that was due to heat. We have only been below 50 one time, but hovering around the low 50's several times. Going to dip again in a few days. How cold has it been in Ohio, Gloria?
some insecticides will
I think Gloria had a problem with mites and maybe it is the spray that caused her to have no bloom this year. Too bad. It is such a long wait anyway and to have to wait until next year.................ouch. I'd have to fly south to see you guys.
I stopped spraying in July. Got down to 48 one night, all the buds were on the patio and lawn. Sure hurts!!!
Arlene, never have seen one with a RED edge...but they usually have a dark orange or burnt yellow edge.
Here it is in the low 80s in the day and drops to the low 50s at night
Pretty.. I have one but havent bloomed yet.. Maybe next year!
I must admit that I love this photo. Not only are JP beautiful, but the light on the flowers seem like you lighted a bonfire below the tree. How do you make them keep their strong colors at this time of year? Dark Rosetta has to be re-babtized Snow Rosetta and the pink suaveolens types renamed to white with a blush. *LOL*
btw. I found a source for T. E. Lockwoods thesis. :)
Really pretty!! Guess I will have to wait til next year to see mine bloom.
With all the new pinks, etc. out this year, this one keeps coming back as MY favorite, shape of flower and it usually does have the red bottom.
