A reprieve.

This is the brug destined for the compost heap.Well I guess it is staying.....after a closer look..the heavily pleated flowers were slow to open all the way..but look at her now....7 inch diameter flowers..most are six pointed..super sweet fragrance...and the flowers stick almost straight out from the stems at night.Very different. Will be known as "Pleated Beauty" pending further inspection.Seems to be a very robust grower. Its a sibling of "Clare Mills" another giant flowered brug thats white.

A pleated brug! Now you have really stumbled on to something Kyle. Could you hybridize this one to produce peach, yellow, orange, pink etc etc etc and how about a double pleat in various colors...is that too much to ask? lol.

I really like the stark white ones. I would love a huge glassed in porch with a white garden immediately beyond it. To sit at night and watch the white blooms glisten.
This one is a beauty.

WOW! not only in bloom, but more buds!!! it is definitely a keeper Kyle :)!

this reminds me of the triple bloom Datura metel, commonly known as Black currant swirl datura. during the peak of hot season, the flowers won't fully open. these days they are not only prolific in blooms but opens all the way. and the fragrance is awesome too!

Very beautiful, glad you decided to keep her. All that and a wonderful smell to, that is impressive.

The flowers have the very tiniest areas of bright pink in between the pleats on the outside edge of the corolla....may try a pink with it just for fun! :-)

Kyle,
I looked at this one more closely and now I can see the pink. I hope you get some nice deep pollen from Rosabelle, Butterfly, L'Amour or others...lets hope someone can share some pollen of the euro pink brugs. :-)

That is beautiful!!! Keep "her".

Kyle does this one have aurea in it to make the flowers hang like that?

joydie,
its a cross of Jean Pasko X Betty Marshall.

Kyle thanks...do you have a picture of Betty Marshall so I can compare the blooms of her? I have a Betty Marshall hybrid bloom that looks like its going to open peach. Its one of Larry's crosses. Thanks hun.

joydie I don't have any pics of Betty Marshall..sorry..i tossed her out a few years ago........was too tall and had to have room for the newbies. :-)

ok thanks Kyle...will do a goggle search :-)

Kyle I love the 6 pointed flowers. I've decided to toss my suaveolens alba and stick with the one white I have from Eric with the 6 pointed pleats. I'm going to only use 6 pointed pleats for my breeding programs. Did this one of yours have a very fat calyx pod before it opened? Mine did.

WOW That's so beautiful.. Yes I agree, Keep her!
