Seedlings

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

They look much greener in real life. I bragged too soon on my camera settings. I had trouble with a pot of Jamaica Yellow seedlings,a little bird was eating snails and got carried away scratching!! Darned snails ate the tops out of a couple of Candida Flore Plena X EP seedlings, made me really mad.

I'll be waiting next winter to see these babies - you are going to be up to your eyes in brugs!

Might have to send some out to visit other gardens. I still have a hundred or so seedlings in pots that I didn't get planted this spring. I'm keeping them growing now, they are about 2 ft tall and will take off like crazy if I move them to bigger pots, so I'll wait till spring. I need a farm,I have one with wonderful soil, but it's 50 miles away!!(and all grown up with weeds and grass right now)

Calalily, I have question for you.. You planted all seeds in one pot? When they all grow, all you do is sepreate, plant each one in each pots?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

that's what I do too.

Yes Mini, that's what I do. These are long pots, like fit on a window sill. For the little round pots, I will use two for a pod, then separate when they get too crowded.

Now that is a bunch of babies. Cala did you soak, soak & peel or just plant them?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Just planted, fresh from the plant on some, dried seeds on others. I never soak or peel. I've had a bit of trouble with the seed heads sticking, but I split them with my fingernail and they fall off on their own.

Great.. I am going to do it the same way like you did. Save the space... LOL..

Now this method really makes sense. I tried the other way with individual seeds in pots...too much work to keep them all watered...

I've done it this way several times, in fact, I still have some from spring in a pot, they are about 18 inches tall. Didn't get them planted, figured they were doing good, leave till spring next year.
