Datura found at the neighbors

She passed away. he is in a home. These have been there 3 years. next to my girlfriends house. I never saw them before. Pretty! Smell wonderful.
Question. they have the green pods on them now. when can I harvest some seeds to take to my house?

MingsMimmi, this sure is a beautiful specimen and I would love, if mine was just 1/10 as pretty as these. How often can you check on the pods? They will begin to be lighter green, paler and then you will see fine cracks in the bottom of the fruits. That`s when I use to take them.

I was hoping you would see this! You seem to know about dautra. Its just right down the street. I can go anytime. can get ya seeds if you would like. Do you know the name of this type? Does it have a name? I wanted to post it in the database. but. didnt; want wrong info. Thanks for your time

I leave them till they turn a light tan and start to split open.Usually after a first frost. :-)

Some of mine didn't make it to frost. They split right out there in the bed. Guess I'll really be using the PREEN next year. I've always tired a piece of nylon hosiery around the pods until this year, and that was my first mistake. :-)

i have those. they do dieback in the winter. once the weather gets warmer, they come back to life. i never have to plant another one again. i save seeds to share though.

so, don;t pick the seed pod and let it dry at home?

no, leave the seed pod on the plant. pick it when it is riped!!!! like as suggested it will be tan color. u know wehn it is ready cause it will and open by itself!
