This is CG in San Diego..came from northern calif and is considered the true form of CG..notice the flowers hang straight down and no visable serration on leaves..although they are Chlorotic..LOL..the flowers are very large and deep golden yellow almost orange.
True Charles Grimaldi
WOW very beautiful flowers as Ring the Bells.
Very nice! Wish I had a real CG....looks prettier than Dr. Seuss. Is it just as fragrant as Seuss?
Owen
Seems a little less fragrant then Dr Suess..but still a worthy plant. Was hybridized By Bartley Schwartz in N. Calif. and named after a landscape architecht that died.
Finally, I have one. I have to rely on Kell for the proper ID of mine. Kell, is that what we have? It is a beauty.
I think I would sacrifice a bit of the Dr. Seuss fragrance for the more colorful real Charles Grimaldi.....anyone want to volunteer one for postage??
Owen
Wish I had a piece of this one..next trip out west I will. :-)
Well mine was IDed on here as a real CG and I do believe it is! It was created right here in the bay area, I believe San Francisco. The first day the flowers turn up and then they come down a little and get a pumpkin color. It blooms in waves and blooms alot!! It does need iron frequently!

and if you believe it is real Owen, I will be happy to send you one for postage. Do you want one also Eclipse?? You would really get it to bloom like crazy!

Kyle, I posted a CG picture in the Brug contest. Would you take a look?
This tree was send to me by Logees as a thumb sized cutting.
BTW...Where is the Brug Contest pictures?
click on 'contests' on the right, and you'll see all the contests.
Thanks tiG
Monika..sure looks like it to me!!Color on brugs in Calif is different then here or in your situation...so many different conditions cause this..temps,water,soil,PH etc. as you well know. so that is why the pic I posted seemed a little more golden colored.:-)
Kell, I have an extra one from those you sent me. I'll see that Kyle gets one of them, from you. Okay?
*****BIG OLE SMILE!!** :-)
Oh Sure Brug, you caught me with my clippers about to cut off a huge limb for him!!! Make sure you put in a pink petunia in the box!! LOL
hey Kell... the more the merrier LOL! am sure Kyle would love that... hehehehehehe. how are u today Ms. Kell?
Hey, my cuttings are still small, so if you want to cut a big chunk off, go for it. I'm sure he would like a bigger start than I would have for him. Your choice, but let me know. He is coming down tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
oh, are you implying, Miss Brugie that I sent you SMALL cuttings??? I find that hard to believe!!! LOL Esp to you, my mentor! I would be happy to send him a HUGE plant.........LOL!! You however NO!!!
Hi Miss Know It ALL!!................... I am great. Just got back from date! Had a great time. How are you?
am fine Ms. Kell :)! lucky U!!!! i miss dining in those fancy restaurants up north.
Bet my cuttings will be just as big as your plants next year. I like 'em small for holding over the winter. Not as much room to get mites on them. :-)
Oh MY!! Do I hear a challenge?? Iowa black dirt against California's sunshine?? Hey girly, you are grass and I just mowed you..........mowed you down!!!!
Hope you don't think we live in the dark in Iowa. Just because our dirt is black doesn't mean the skies are. WE get our share of sunshine too, and it is warmer so things grow fast. I'll check with you next summer (with pictures in hand) and see who does have the biggest one. I'll eat my words if mine is smaller, will you?
My words?? Only if they have chocolate syrup and whip cream on them.
