My word, this is a beauty. Found it peeking out from under a malva in the back yard, did you?

At the moment Weez, it's peeking out from under a pile of convolvulous, but it is a beauty and i shall be rescuing it.
The flowers are perhaps a little smaller than they appear here, though still very attractive

This really is in your garden?? I thought you'd visited some botanical garden and taken pictures. This is so lovely!

This is gorgeous. I take it that this plant can tolerate shade. Is it a perennial and what zone is it hardy?

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Ah, it's a shrub! I wasn't quite getting that. I looked it up on Googles: http://www.rcwnurseries.com/Shrubs/abelia-edwardgoucher.htm

Woodspirit: The above site didn't list zones, but another site listed x grandiflora as a USDA Zones 6-9.

Nice shot of a beautiful plant!

Thanks Dave and all.
Yes it's a shrub, semi-evergreen depending on where you're growing it. I think Dave's put details in the PDB.
It's lovely from late summer into autumn and has the bonus of scent.
This is a close up and the flowers are not that large, but the overall effect is pleasing as it's an unusual shade of pink, a colour i'm not often that fond of. Dave's photo in the PDB is probably more accurate for colour - these digitals!!
