Eric, is this DRXSL?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I have two brugs tagged this but they are both different. I've made a boo boo somewhere. I'll post the other one tomorrow, I forgot to take a pic today at the GH.

That is really something! Is DRXSL going to have a name??

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

forgive my ignorance..but for the sake of those of us still trying to decipher hieroglyhics..what is DRXSL ????LOL

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Cala, there is D x S (dr s x solid gold) L, M and R. there are three Dxs just the last letter different

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

OK, thought the tag had an "r" on it too. Is it Dr D X Solid Gold-left seedling?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Cala, My D x S L starts out yellow and then it turns a peachy orange color. Hard to explain the color because it's different from any other I've seen bloom.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

right Cala, he had the three growing side by side. I have buds on DxS M.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Snow, that's the one at the greenhouse. What is this one then? It starts out yellow and darkens a bit. It's got prominent ribs and frilly edges, small bloom but loaded everytime. I'll try to get a pic of it's bloom next to an Ecuador Pink bloom. Most folks know about how big they are.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

need Eric !

FSH, TX

okay, I give...whats a DRXSL.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Would it be D X S-L?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Eric, did you take a shortcut to the bottom of the thread?? LOL!!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Pretty color!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Calalily I give up..maybe you should send me the whole plant and I'll ask it what its parents are???LOL :-)

FSH, TX

You guys seriously like my no named hybrids?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Eclipse, a cutting could find it's way to Iowa. Want me to send you one?

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

It is beautiful Cala and Eric!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Eric, The first flower on my D x S L came out yellow. The second flush came out a beautiful peachy orange color and I love it. Different color from all the rest of my Brugs.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yes Eric, they should have names.

FSH, TX

Snowhermit,
Well they did bloom in the first year, but the color is never consistant on the three. In fact all 3 of them never bloomed the same color at the same time for me.The only way I could keep them apart was to have them as seedlings growing next to each other. Hence, DxS L, DxS M, DxS R. DxS m bloomed white the most, but even it bloomed yellow and orange from time to time. What amazed me the most about this cross was how the flowers were just a bit more versicolor looking than either parent, seedpods were a bit more versicolor looking on all three as well. Parents were Dr.Sues and Solid Gold. If you want my oppinion though...DXS R and L were my favorites although DxS M bloomed first. I gave these out thinking some of you guys might like them to hybridize with. I was hoping someone might improve on them and make them a bit more stable. That and I was hoping as mixed up as the parentage was that perhaps we could trick an arborea hybrid into breeding with one of em. I also have to admit I was toying with crossing this hybrid with Charles Grimaldi, Whiskers, or one of Whiskers children just to see how mixed up we could get the genes. From what I can tell though from this cross I would have to bet that crossing DXS L,M,R to Charles Grimaldi would just intensify the versicolor nature of any future progeny. Probably best to go with a hybrid with a bit more aurea or an aurea x suaveolens cross. Who all actually has all three of these hybrids of mine anyways?I know you do Tig and I would bet money Arlene has them if she hasn't gotten rid of them.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Yes Eric. Please name it because it's one I'm definitely keeping.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I do, but only have buds on DxS M

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Eric, I did pollinate mine with Whiskers.

FSH, TX

Funny she should be the first one to bloom for you as she was the first to bloom for me as well. Seems even the cuttings follow the same pattern.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I have these two new seedlings getting ready to open, if either are yellow or peach, that's what I'm using.

FSH, TX

Tig, if you would do me the honor of naming these seedlings or perhaps putting them up on this forum after they bloom a few times for you and having everyone vote on which ones to name and which ones to scrap...These seedlings vary in color so much though depending on the time of year though that I don't think a single picture would be good in this case. When a hybrid can be almost completly white one flush and orange or yellow on another flush...

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

how about we compile the pictures for a few flushes?? I do think they deserve names from what I've seen.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

But what is this one??? I don't think it's DXS-L, it's nothing like the one at the GH, and nothing like Snow's pic. The bloom is a lot like Jamaica Yellow, but the leaves are completely different. I'll go take some more pictures.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

that's what he's saying though, they bloom different. check the tag again and see if you have a letter.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It's D X S "L", should there be that much difference in the size of the flowers too?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

could be the weather. my solid gold is fixing to bloom again, and the flowers are much smaller ??

Eric, I have all three. The first to bloom was very orange with a frilly edge, posted a picture a while back. The others have buds on them.
