Ursaline X from TiG

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It was pure white the first time it opened. This is the second flush. It's a short plant and the flowers are small, but I just love these. I used GTX and Butterfly pollen(not on the same flower). It's hard to see, but it's a soft butter yellow color.

does yours have the wonderfully thick velvety leaves?? none of mine have bloomed yet, still holding out hope for this season. The bugs seem to love these more than anything else.

Yes, velvety leaves, the flowers are heavy substance and yes, there was a worm in the bloom, eating away!!

That pic looks exactly like my LBJ Ursiline x ? brug I got from seeds. As a matter of fact, I have two of them blooming right now....only difference between them is that one has a bit shorter flower that lasts longer than the other one. Both look like your picture. Both have a very faint nice fragrance, and are about 5 ft. tall.

Mine do not have velvety leaves or heavy fragrance.....not keepers for me:)

Okay, I like that one too! Like the looks of the smaller flowers.

is this a keeper Susie?

I love it. They look very short and sweet.

TiG, I'm keeping it. I really like it. Not big and showy, but soft and delicate. My plant isn't more than 3 feet tall.

The Ursaline x plants I have turned into 9 and 10 foot monsters. They didn't start budding till they were about 8 1/2 ft. Wish they had stayed smaller and I could have brought them into GH this fall to see them bloom.I do have one we dug up and potted. We call it Stump. It is different from the rest of those seedlings as it has a huge trunk which stays wide all the way to the top of the plant. The leaves are huge on it too.

Snow, cut the top out of them and root it. I have lots of seedlings in the ground that haven't bloomed. It's been too dry here and I couldnt' keep everything watered.

Cala, I've been wondering if the seedlings that are over 3' tall will come back. they've been in there a while now.

I'm taking cuttings just in case, and mulching with leaves really good. Of course if it's like last winter, we won't have to worry.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Cala, Just cut the top half off and stick the trunk in ProMix or water?????

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

actually, I have half of that big seedling bed budding now. Might get to see what I'd want to keep anyway. Take cuttings of the rest, get them to bloom inside, and start all over with new seeds in that bed. hmm...it's too late for my mind to race!!

Cala ..hint hint...Xmas is comming soon....**WINKING**

Eclipse, do you want some seedlings? I'll cut the tops off and send them all to you!!
Snow, that's what I do, just whack the top out and stick a bunch of them(learned this from Glory) in a pot of Pro-Mix.I've been sticking a dozen or so cuttings in a gallon pot(the true gallon, not the cheater one that nurseries use)

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Cala, I'll need a hack saw to cut through those big trunks. LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Aw just use a chain saw..LOL My DH had to use a chain saw on my castor beans last year!
