Good morning! I have 2 of these lovely plants. Purchased them at different nurseries in my area. 1 is double purple and the other is supposed to be yellow but blooms are peachy yellow. I was told that the yellow one would come back from the roots next year but not the purple. Would hate to lose these. Do I make cuttings? Zone 8. I'm new to gardening in this area so don't know what to expect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jan
Help for newbie
your purple is a datura, short lived perennial. It might come back but very easy from seeds. Your other, do the flowers face up or down? If they hang, it's a brug, you can tell for sure by looking in the database. It should come back from the roots with no problem for you. welcome to Dave's!!!
Thanks for the information. Yes the yellow one hangs down. It is just beautiful. I took a picture this morning but wasn't sure how to post it on this site. Do I need to upload it to my picture host and then just link to it? Jan.
no, Jan, just save it on your harddrive in JPG, and then when you start a new thread you will see a box that lets you upload it to Dave's. suggested size is 640 x 400 and less than 100k if possible. can't wait to see it!!!
You know, I took cuttings of my daturas just before they bit the dust and they are still fine!!! I suspect they are putting down roots for they have been cut for about 2 weeks and look great. Where is Tonny when you need him?
A brug friend of mine told me I should not grow brugs where I grow daturas because daturas are so prone to viruses. Is this true Tonny, where ever you are??
