Does anyone have small amts of any grain seed suitable to grow for birdfood for sase? Will be out of town till Thursday-really want some millett if anyone has any of that or could suggest something Thanks
grain for birds
I'm looking for millet myself, if I find any I will share the seed with you. I think the best bet is to just buy a small amount of millet from the pet food store.

I have several parrots, and I'll be growing some of their sunflower (mainly gray stripe) and safflower seeds. Small wild seed-eaters (cardinals, buntings, grosbeaks) like black oil sunflower seeds, which I also have, but they're not great for parrots.
I'm happy to share/trade any of these seeds.
Canaries and small wild finches love thistle seeds, which are pretty easy to come by. Sorry I don't have them, though they sell them cheaply in giant bags at the local stores.
Growing actual grain (wheat, oats, millet, milo) can be quite an undertaking, it seems to me.
What kind of birds are you feeding?
Myself....i was only going to grow millet..as it is sold in the pet stores, and rather pricey, as a treat for my cockatiel. When I give him a sprig of millet he stays right there with it until it is gone. It must really be a treat.I wasn't going to grow much..just enough for a homegrown treat

Hi Janet I recieved the daffs and plants yesterday and they came in excellent condition Thanks for sharing I really appreciate it. When I find out what the red plnt is I will let you know or did you get an ID on it yet? We dont have a seed store nearby-all our farmers have disappeared years ago but might find it elsewhere if I look-am twenty miles from town. Thanks for eeverything Shirley
marclay, the only millet i could find around here comes in 50lbs bags.and cost 30 dollars. if you could get 5 people to each take 10 lbs and with approximately $10 for shipping it would cost you each about $1.60 per pound. each persons cost would be $16. If you want me to get it let me know. I really don't mind in fact I'll take the first 10 lbs and then you 10 lbs now all we need is 3 more people to take 10 lbs each. any takers
Thanks Janet lets see if someone might be interested. I did travel today ( so whatis new and what about retirement?) I stopped in WVA and Krogers had thistle seed but t too was 6 dollars for two lbs and I certainly dont need that much.
