These godetias are really pretty, I have seen them growing here in fields for seed. But I have never grown them myself. Are they from seed? Difficult? Carol, do you have a heating cable underneath when you start your seeds?

Yes, Lenjo, I grow them from seed in my basement, then take them out to the greenhouse in early April. They can be set out by late May or early June. I found them relatively easy to start, broadcasting the seed to small containers in domed flats, then pricking them out and transplanting after true leaves appear. I don't have a heat cable, but the fluourescent lights are almost on top of the domed flats, so that generates a little heat.

I buy the seed for Satin Mixed, since it is an F1 Hybrid, and probably wouldn't come back true from seed, although I've had some pretty good luck with collected seed, as well. Godetia bloom relatively late around here, but I can generally get mature seed pods by first freeze if I don't deadhead any of the flowers.
