I saw a hummingbird!
I'm in zone 4 also Crimson, and I have only seen one in my lifetime, but they do get up here on occasion. I bought a hummingbird feeder off ebay and I'm going to put it out next summer to see if I can attract them. I've been researching plants that attract hummingbirds trying to find some that are hardy here, and I'm going to order them next spring. The plants might not mature enough in one year to cause attraction, but it's a start.
I saw one and then two days later my DH and I saw two. We were so excited, we rushed out and bought a hummingbird feeder, but have not seen any since. They were by our Cannas that are in pots on our deck. Next year, more Cannas!!!!
They love cannas but are migrating now to warmer areas.
