Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I had to study this again - I did find the duck this time, at first I thought you meant the "dove" in the air on the top left of the bloom!!

Cleveland, OH(Zone 5b)

Looks more like a goose to me. Maybe one of those you dress up. Kinda looks like it's wearing a jacket or something?

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

LOl - you are right Celia, it is a goose!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank god!!! I was getting scared so now we all just know that I do not know the difference between a duck and a goose and a live one and a cement one...........I can live with that!

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

You gals are killing me! LOL
I am away for a day and back to find you discussing my goose.
Yes, a cement goose. But the naked type ..no clothes.
Though I do have real chickens. LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Gee I have real geese and a cement chicken...and he's naked too...I could put feathers on him from my live chikens

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I have a cement chicken...as a matter of fact I bought it in Georgia.....for some reason he won't breed....or crow,or eat.he's my favorite.....he needs some clothes though.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi Liz...........It was very good! We always have a fun time. Laugh a lot. I took a nap soon after my return and now I am up reading about cement chickens and wondering why I do not have one myself!!!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Abutilon, what kind of chickens do you have?Just Cochins?I have some large fowl cochins,I don't show them...but I love them, they are so tame!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I would love to have a fancy chicken or 2........the kind I saw at the 4H fair............... but my cats would kill it I think!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Kell,I have cats..they don't kill the chickens

If you ever want any let me know, and if you know someone with an incubator I can send you eggs so you can hatch them.

But they don't come in PINK

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I had a pink chicken once!! And a green one and a yellow one, a blue one and a black one!! I was 5, I think there were six chicks but I don't remember the othter color. It was Easter. My Mom & I went to visit my Grandma for the week-end. Daddy fell asleep, let the fire go out and they all died but the little black one. This one followed me around for a few weeks like a puppy. Then one day I was picking dandilions, I sat down backwards and squashed him!! I remember putting him in a small box and having a funeral for him under a Mulberry tree. It was traumatic.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm so sorry Azalea.....its so sad......

I had a pink peep, too. Supped to be a hen so I named Rosey.
When Rosey became a rooster my uncle cooked her/him ))o;
No dinner for me that Sunday.

I have several varieties of cochins, barred rocks, rhode island reds.
And Ra ..he's a rock x cornish. A gentle rooster. Very cool bird (o:

Oh my God Azalea.....that is a sad sad story!! I had a rooster also when I was young. As I recall my sister hatched them from a home made incubator. 1 hatched. It was the love of my life and since I was the only one that loved animals it was mine. I named him Baby and he followed me everywhere. Every morning at the crack of dawn he would do his thing. Then when I went away to prep school, my little brother wrote me letter saying they had brought baby to a farm where he would be the No. 1 rooster and have a great life. I cried and cried.

CC, you are so sweet.........but from NY to California don't you think they would be scrambled eggs??

Funny, I was just out and about the neighborhood taking pictures of great flora.........and one brug house had a chicken wire cage around a trunk of a tree, maybe 6 feet diameter..........with 2 chickens in it.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Well, I guess alot of us have sad memories of things in our childhood - I have some other stories I won't bire you wit - they are best forgotten anyway!! Sorry for you and Abutilon too.

Funny about the cage!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Esp. since NO ONE has chicknes around here! Here I was talking about them and then go out and see pet ones. Probably 1st live ones I have seen in 5 years!
