Due to the wamr summer (?) our Chaenomeles made one single flower in September. (2.9.2002)
Common name: Flowering Quince
Family: Rosaceae
Genus: Chaenomeles
Species japonica
Evert - Chaenomeles speciosa (Boke)is a very popular garden shrub and Bonsai plant here, and C. japonica (Kusa-boke) can be seen on undisturbed roadside banks even in the city, but I didn't notice many blooms from either this year - perhaps you're right about heat - the cherry blossoms were two weeks early.
It is popularr garden shrub here too. I think they are very pretty when blooming. Ours was full of flower this Spring. Was surprised to see this flower few days ago.. There are 2 fruits in our plant btw :D
Uggg! - don't even think of eating them - they're terrible! (This fool once tried :(
Stick with C. sinensis, the true Quince.
I've never eaten them, but my aunt makes good jelly of the fruits ;)
I don't think they sell sinensis here, it probably isn't hardy here.
arsenic - how about "really really Really sour balls"?!!
Lophophora, are you sure the fruits were ripe when you tasted them? =)
:) Prob'ly not.......
Ugg. Tarzan find fruit. Fruit look good. Tarzan eat!

Just as long as you don't eat your nickname!!! :-O
