Evert - Chaenomeles speciosa (Boke)is a very popular garden shrub and Bonsai plant here, and C. japonica (Kusa-boke) can be seen on undisturbed roadside banks even in the city, but I didn't notice many blooms from either this year - perhaps you're right about heat - the cherry blossoms were two weeks early.

It is popularr garden shrub here too. I think they are very pretty when blooming. Ours was full of flower this Spring. Was surprised to see this flower few days ago.. There are 2 fruits in our plant btw :D

Uggg! - don't even think of eating them - they're terrible! (This fool once tried :(

Stick with C. sinensis, the true Quince.

I've never eaten them, but my aunt makes good jelly of the fruits ;)

I don't think they sell sinensis here, it probably isn't hardy here.

I like the fruits; they taste like really sour sour-balls:)

Lol! Glad I'm not the only one with a bad tendency to taste everything... Well; it haven't killed me yet:)

Just as long as you don't eat your nickname!!! :-O

Lol; I had to taste it... It doesn't taste a thing! You actually need quite a lot to kill anyone (0.15-0.30 g); they used arsenic-pills against fatigue up to the 1940ies.
