As you can see, the g'house is almost finished. Just have to hang the heaters (whenever they come) and waiting for teh electrician to come and rewire the whole building. Essentially, it could house plants right now. I have about 40 that I know will probably come and live here for the winter. That's not counting my 50!!! This is a view from the inside.......for rank amatures I think Spouse and I did pretty good.
another g'house photo
wow, great job!!!! I hope you get more to babysit and make it a money making deal.
Very nice job.
WOW it is huge! And this for your hobby?
congrats its looking good!!
That's awesome. You're only planning to use it for winter storing? No plans on starting plants in there? You'll have to let us know how it all works out. Are you gonna have it ready this winter?
Poppysue, I have NO desire to get into retail and sell plants in the spring. I may start a few things for myself, but my time is so limited.....I have a girlfriend that will start some things if her time and my space permits. I would like to get my hanging baskets going early so they will be nice when it's time to put them out. One idea I have (I need feedback here, folks.........) for utilizing the g'house all year long is to have a bunch of tropicals--ferns, hibiscus, palms, etc. and have them to "rent" out for weddings and/or family and business gatherings. To my knowledge, there is nobody around that does that sort of thing either, so am hoping that would pan out. I'm thinking if I would have a booth at a couple of bridal fairs it would at least give me an idea if there is a clientele out there for such an endeavor. I know this is probably the wrong forum for posting this kind of stuff, but all you Brug people are so talkative and just jump right in and tell it like it is, and that's what I need.......lots of thoughts on these things. TIA. :>)
You and your hubby did a fantastic job! What a great greenhouse.
anna, I think renting out the tropicals is a GREAT idea!!! and bridal fairs are just the place to get some business!!! you might work yourself into retail if you don't watch out:) I think you're on the right track and I wish you great luck
Anna, I have often thought that the white brugs would be fantastic at weddings. The double stuffed white does great in large pots and is in constant bloom. It also has the best leaves of any brugs that I have seen. It likes to bush so would not be too lanky. It would be a great one.
Anna,
I have a friend here in Biloxi that rents out plants to the Casinos...she does pretty good at it.
