and I feel like a worn out battleship! Talking, walking back and forth from the Greenhouses to the alley, no chance for having a cup of coffee! Last night, I felt like having fringes on my mouth and today, my feet still hurt. People drove as far as 400km!
But... WHAAAAAAA, I didnt even have the chance to make pictures. A lady from the country womens club made several, so you have to wait until I get those! My friends were very busy selling cake and coffee. The earnings will go into the account of the club for a trip or a christmas event.
We plan a repeat next year, but this time, I will announce it in my homepage and in my cataloge.
The great day is over.
Glad it went well, wish I could have walked through just one time.
TLynn, one time is good. The Ghes are 70m away from the main alley and I think, I walked the way a hundred times.
Oh Monika, I feel so sorry you have aching feet. Seems like when the feet hurt, everything hurts. I'm sure glad you had a successful day though. Now, take some time and relax. I'm sure you need to and you deserve some quiet time.
Monika, do you have Epson Salts for your brug's? If you do it works wonders on the feet in a warm soak, treat yourself lord knows you deserve it!!!
TLynn, I dont know Epson salt, do you know the german name for it?
I didnt water my plants last night, because I couldnt walk any farther. So I had to water them today, close to 400 of them. I will relax with a glass of vine and since it needs just one glass go to bed in low flight.
The main ingredient is Mag. Sulfate, I don't know the German egual, any mint leaves or menthol rub desolved in the warm water would do the trick. I am misserable when my feet hurt...
Oh Monika I'm glad it went so well for except for your aching feet. You must post any newspaper articles or anything that somes up regarding your garden tour. You must be so pleased to have people come from near and far. Congrats and get some much needed rest.
But you know the wine would do the trick for me 1/2 a glass and I probably wouldn't make it to the bed....Maybe you can drink it in bed, be a real lady of leisure.
TLynn, thank you. Its Magnesium or Bittersalz. I use Magnesium or Bitter Salt on sanguineas only. Magnesium is also a content in my fertilizer.
I will try to be a lady of leisure, LOL!
I thought about you all day yesterday. I'll bet everyone was amazed by your garden. What a pleasure it must have been for you to have your brug babies oohed and aahed over!
It was worth it though, wasn't it? Sore feet and all?
Wish I could have been there.
Boy Liz me, too! I wish I had one of those expensive certificates and Monika's catalog... Maybe then we would need a bottle of wine for our DH's...
It was worth it, Liz! It had cooled off, therefore no wilted brugs in the sunlight. To my surprise, Flamenco had the most attention. However, she presented herself like she knew, visitor were coming. The flowers are large, they were closed and therefore looked like being bright red. Favorite's Delight was covered with flowers. People were stunned. The many names, colors and flower shapes was to much for many of the visitors.
Brugmansias are known only as bushes. Nobody ever saw trees before and many believed, the plants were hardy. Others noticed the pots in the ground.
It was totally open. The lawn is a little bit damaged. We had tables and chairs placed in the tent and you see the path of many feet. We didnt count the visitors but 20 big cakes were sold (in pieces). Maybe 200 people? My garden was open from 13 - 18 hrs.
That's quite a few people. The last time I was on the garden tour there were 200+ people and our lawn was quite damaged as it was only June and a lot of the garden is fairly shady. It is exhausting talking to that many people especially when they all ask the same questions. I'm sure you're thrilled you had it and even more thrilled that it's over and you can get back to your plants. Still wish I could've been there. Maybe Liz and I will try for next year.
It was a lot of fun. My friends and I plan to repeat it next year. The flowering peak was last sunday but there were still enough flowers open to surprise the visitors.
I would be pleased to welcome you two.
What sort of people were there? Serious gardeners? Did these people know what they were going to see?
Was your garden the only one open? Can you imagine how awful it would be to be the next garden open after Monika?
Most of them just wanted to see the Brugmansias. They had no idea what they would see. They had questions over questions. But Brug fanciers were among them also.
Monika, So glad your day went well but how could it not with all those beautiful Brugs. Sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet now and rest those feet.
Its so great, that you had a fun day at your open garden arrangement. I think that only you can attract so many people in one event and from so far away. How was the reaction by those, that didn`t know, what to expect or to see? I bet, that you made Brugs very famous now in wider garden circles. *G* I also bet, that you has placed a large bucket with epsom salt under your computer table. Here`s hoping, that your DH is still awake to rub your feets. You both did a wonderful job. :-)
All that walking back and forth to the Greenhouses - I hope that means you sold lots of plants. But NOT ALL the plants.
Sounds like such fun and such a feast for the eyes! Did anyone go snap snap on one of your brugs? I hope not! though it must have been hard not to for those who know how easy it is to root them from a little cutting!
