I love this poppy crimson. I have plenty of prickly thistles on my allotment, this poppy would go down a treat!

hi there! Just a theory...Is this poppy do you think very similar to the Mexican Tulip poppy? and what are your thoughts on growing either this one or the latter in a container?????Elaine

Not sure... poppysue would probably know more.

This one is similar to the yellow Mexican Prickly poppy ... if that's what you mean. I haven't tried any argemones in containers so I wouldn't really know how they'd do. They don't like root disturbance but you could transplant when they're small if your careful. I've tried growing papaver somniferum in containers and it didn't work out too well for me.

I would imagine papaver somniferum likes plenty of moisture as they do really well on my damp allotment. Of course they also like the sun which is why they do well for you too.
