Would love to find a Weeping Cherry Tree!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

I have always wanted a Weeping Cherry Tree, Does anyone know where I can get one?? I would gladly pay postage for a good sized seedling tree. I had asked last year and seems like someone here had one that they were going to save for me, but I can't remember who it was :(
I know that they say to plant trees in any month with a R in it....September has a R so maybe it would be safe to get one now?
Anyone??

Well get two and we will both have one.
Here's the link. Pebble we want two. http://davesgarden.com/s/30009.html

O Jim you found it!!! I knew I had asked someone and I just couldn't remember who it was!! Thanks for helping me out with that! I guess I will wait and see if Pebble comes along and sees this, maybe just maybe she'll have some more little ones to share with us.

Thanks again Jim!

I think these might be grafted to a different root stock. Seedlings may not produce the same type of tree.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

:( awww man!! Just when I had my hopes up! :(

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Well - you might want to look into it a little further - since I really don't know what I'm talking about. I think that's the way with a lot of the fancy flowering trees tho. It's better to find out now than to invest 4 or 5 years into growing it. I might have some info in one of my propigation books. I'll see if I can find anything...

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Ok Thanks Sue, let me know what the book says.

I think poppysue is right. I've always thought of the weeping cherries as 'manufactured' trees. There's got to be grafting and all sorts of manipulation to get one. I've always thought they're pretty, but don't think I'd want one.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

O Ok eye's Thanks!

O but why Melody?? I just love 'em!!

It might just come down to me having to buy on from a nursery somewhere, which will be fine I guess. I was just hoping to get one here. :(

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I did read on another site that they are grafted onto cherry tree roots. Buying one would be your best bet Mollybee.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Go ahead and buy two Molly. LOL

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

LOL Jim Haven't priced them yet....but I can about bet they ain't cheap!! and Cheap is my middle name! LOL
Thanks for all the help ya'll!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

egads.....I saw the title of this post and thought, by gum, I still have a couple that I can send, better just jump right in and offer them....

I have promised a couple to eyes, but I still have some molly.

I know about the grafting thing, but I gave one of the seedlings to a neighbour, and oddly enough it is weeping.... I had told her that I didnt think it would weep, and she said never mind, I just want it (that was 3 yrs ago) and now it is weeping....go figure.

I wont promise that these will weep though...hers could have been a fluke!

I sent some out early spring of this year, and some last year, I wonder if any of those people could tell us how theirs came out? weeping or not????

send me an e-mail, and I will get some ready, I was going to wait for it to cool down a bit and they start their dormancy period. what do you think?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Jim, do you want some too?

I wish I knew who I sent the other ones out to in may or june.....I must have thought it was whoever was asking for them earlier....(Guess not....)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

you sent me some cuttings but they didn't make it.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Tig, cuttings or rooted saplings? I don't usually send cuttings. I'm sorry that they didnt make it Tig...Of all people to get a bum trade...sorry. Let me check to see how many I have and I might be able to send you some more.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh, must have been rooted then! aren't I terrible??? and it certainly was NOT a bum trade! think they were with something else, but I'm the one that didn't help them along!!!! nonononono, you have never sent a bum trade, please don't think that's what I was saying.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I know you werent saying that hunny bunny, but you know, I hate to think that it died....and then what was the point of that whole trade???? huh? HUH? was there a point to it??? no, there was absolutely no point whatsoever.
I wish I could just run home and take a survey of how many I have. In fact, I think I will head on out and mail your fels...the stop home and check it out...

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh, I wish I'd never said anything. but I do know for a fact that there was something else in the box. positive of that. I figured you might remember you sent to me and wonder, but sure wish I'd kept my mouth shut.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)
