I am digging up some bulbs that bloomed this spring. I forget which variety I have. While digging, I knocked off some bulblets and also some scales from one of the bulbs. I have heard that even the scales will sprout and give you more lilies, is that true? How long does it take the bulblets and the scales to become mature enough to bloom?
propagation from lily scales?
I think it depends on the species of lily. I always cover any scales back up with soil when moving lilies around. They take at least a year ... maybe two to bloom.
