Brugman, is this your candida pink or cross?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

the leaves were so velvety i thought it was candida double white, had 2 so i planted one in all day sun for fun. the leaves have no velvet left, and the flowers always look strange, pink only bottom and like they have a hard time coming out of calyx.

Wow!!! It got to be a Brugman hybrid. When Eric sometimes uses the expression: " ... I could of course be wrong. I have been before", he is usually right. *lol* When I sues it I am usually wrong, but I am more often wrong, when I firmly believe, that I am right. The tube look like the double x candidas, but the mouth like x insignis pink or Isabella. It is suaveolens like. Eric, you got to help us here. Isn`t the calyx indicating versicolor or just prolonged x candida?

FSH, TX

Thats definitly not the one I refer to as Candida pink, but it is clearly a candida pink of some sort. The candida pink I have is much darker than that one and recurves more. Glad to see your up and running. I thought I posted a picture of Candida pink in here, but alas I can't find it.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Brugman, it has to be one of your crosses then!!! i kept saying to self, it's cause its in the full sun that it isn't the deep pink beautiful blooms on brugman's candida pink..... you did post a pic, had it as wallpaper for months!!!!!!! so this is?? dr seuss x ep or dr suess x isabella??????

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

good questions, tonny!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

note to brugnanny, tig and azalea.... this is what you have marked as candida pink!!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Could it be Frosted Velvet? Just reaching here.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

It is very very pretty. Looks like a very soft color.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

it is a soft color. brugie, it's not the frosted velvet you gave me and he didn't give me seedlings with names last year. i thought it was candida double, then it bloomed i thought it was my missing candida pink! couldn't keep making excuses for it though.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

it's beautiful!!! I'll change it when I know what to change it to.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It is a pretty soft color. Hope you find out what it is.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

It's a very pretty soft shade of pink. I like it.

Arlene,
Best I can tell you is that one has versicolor and aurea in it. Wish I had of labeled my seedlings better for you, but I have to admit that I didn't do very good on that front. Back then I was not even sure I was going to give out anymore seedlings. I was in the habit prior to that of sending boxes of seedlings out in trades. It was just pure lazziness on my part and I apologize for it. Thank goodness you weren't on the recieving end of those boxes of seedlings. In fact, Tx and a few other states were the primary recipients of many boxes of my seedlings for a few years. In fact, if you go to a certain nursery in St.Aug Florida you'll find a few of my seedlings unnamed as well. I just may be the cause of more brug confusion than the law allows, but at the least you can say you have seedlings which can breed to any hybrid they come into contact with as a seedling is capable of breeding with any hybrid except of course itself. So sorry for all the confusion. The most I can hope for is that some of you guys like the seedlings I sent out and of course the very few named hybrids I gave out as well.

Brugman, no problem here! gotta give it more shade though, will probably move it in the spring when it comes up again, easier then.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I do not know Arlene, but Brugman may have just confessed enough to go to brug jail with you!!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

No matter what it is . . I really like it. Thanks Arlene. I guess you should tell us what to name it.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

ARE YOU READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Arlene!!! you can tell we are all around the same age!

Fat Old Sun
When the fat old sun in the sky is falling
Summer evenin' birds are calling
Summer's thunder time of year
The sound of music in my ears
Distant bells, new mown grass
Smells so sweet
By the river holding hands
Roll me up and lay me down
And if you sit don't make a sound
Pick your feet up off the ground
And if you hear as the warm night falls
The silver sound from a time so strange
Sing to me, sing to me
When that fat old sun in the sky is falling
Summer evenin' birds are calling
Children's laughter in my ears
The last sunlight disappears
And if you sit don't make a sound
Pick your feet up off the ground
And if you hear as the warm night falls
The silver sound from a time so strange
Sing to me, sing to me
When that fat old sun in the sky is falling

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Pink Floyd has just become more special . . I am glad that you named it after your dad.

Excellent name Arlene. BTW I spent all day putting XP upgrade on my puter and now I can see pictures et al :)

*LOL* Pink Floyd. That gives a new dimension to both music listening and Brugs. *LOL* I remember the first Pink Floyd rcord I ever listened to, it that with the pig flying over this factory area. *lol* First number, if my memory serves me right, was the sounds of steps on a stair walking from the left speaker to the right and then back again. *lol*

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Pigs on the Wing
If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you,
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain.
Wondering which of the buggars to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, do you have all these songs memorized or are you cheating with a book of music or a lyrics site at your fingertips?

"You know that I care what happens to you
And I know that you care for me
So I don't feel alone
Of the weight of the stone
Now that I've found somewhere safe
To bury my bone
And any fool knows a dog needs a home"

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Tonny and kell, i'm going to find the lyrics of pink floyd now. i remember listening to them but some how i missed a lot of words.
btw, has anyone noticed that the worst thing about CRC is that you always forget that you can't remember what you're trying to remember until its too late.

LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, i've been missing you!! have you harvested a ton of seeds yet?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

CRC??? Creeping Rot Cyndrome?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

you know tig, can't remember. and i still almost always think i'll remember. if i could remember that i can't remember anything i might be better at writing stuff down.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Arlene, It doesn't help. I write stuff down and then forget where I put it.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

see, she sees kell write something and forgets so fast she writes tiG. classic case of CRC!!! LOL!!!!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Well, at least maybe I learned something from all this craziness - you can't pollinate a brug to it's self!! I tried!! Ignorance is bliss, Lol!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Azalea, amen to that!!! so do you like your pink floyd?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh my God, lately I have really been worried about myself! (no comments from the peanut gallery!!!) Last night my DH said to me about 9 PM that I must have left a hose on for he could hear it, even though I had just told him I had turned them both off. I said to him indignantly, that no I had turned them both off! With that he goes into our bathroom off our bedroom and come out and says the water was going full blast from the faucet. I hadn't been in there for hours!!! Scary !!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh sure - if you mean music!! Arlene, I have not the first bloom on anything, but a bunch of buds are forming, I hope I live long enough to see them!!
