Wow. I'm glad I went out here to read about this plant. I just bought seeds thinking it looked like an interesting ornamental. Maybe I'll try it in a pot. Thanks.

I have a plant like this in my garden but the lanterns never turn orange. It has a long thin root, not runners. Any idea what it could be?

I bought one last year and this year i have already given away over 20 Physalis plants to 5 diff friends n family. as i have container garden, luckily for me they sprouted up in the same planters only (via roots). Heres a pic of one i have in an old fireside coal bucket which the chunks of coal and charcoal that i left at the bottom for drainage seems to boost the foliage and colours. Out of al that i have, only this one seems excellent. The others are in normal pots n planters and they doing ok.
