Kell,do the Sangs bloom there all summer or slow down when it gets warm?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

All summer in frequent flushes. But more flowers when it is cool! This summer when it was hot 2 weeks ago it bloomed yellow! Then it got cool and more blooms opened that were this color...orange yellow. It looked so odd.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Is it suppose to be yellow or orange,or red?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

It usually is dark orange rimmed that melts into the yellow and the throat is yellow also.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Wowser! Great combo!! Here I am with zone envy again. :)

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Beautiful and so healthy looking.

Very nice Kell.

Lucky you. Wish I could get mine to bloom. Still trying Liz.

Brugie, it will bloom in the fall. Just keep it out of the heat.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Mine took a break Shirley for the months of July and August. Just too hot plus I moved them to almost all day sun. Now the evenings are cooler and they're budding again. All 37 of them. Now do you see why I needed arborea?? LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Okay, I'm heading out to move this one out of morning sun too. It is very warm on the front deck. Will put it in almost total shade until we cool a lot.

37 of them? Oh my gosh. How many others do you have too?

I noticed lately that the Iochromas are putting on buds now. Kyle told me that they need warm days and cool nights, and that is beginning to happen, so maybe I'll finally see some blooms on them too.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Brugie, I took some pics of the Lochromas that are in a nursery in Berkeley last week to post. Which forum should I do so??

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, they are a member of the same family as brugs, so you can post them here or on photos or tropicals.....doesn't really matter. My red one from you has buds now at the top of each of the stalks. Boy, it is hard to keep that thing watered. It really sucks it up.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I must have soil that holds too much moisture, my Lochromas never complain and I just rotted all but 1 of my daturas. the only one that has survived is the ugly one.........just my luck!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Want me to save you some seed? I have single white, double purple, I think it is Blackcurrant Swirl, double/triple yellow, and double white.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

that would be great Brugie. will they grow in big pots like brugs do?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Yes, but you might have to trim and shape.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Kell, what nursery in Berkenly did you she the lochramas in?

Patricia

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh I forgot to post them. The Berkeley Horticultural Nursery, Patricia. They have a bed with a huge brug and huge Lochromas. I am talking 15 feet high at least......

they have neat plants. some rare for sale. and great orchids. There are 4 right there within 3miles of each other, so I do the tour.
