Aaaaargh, broke the network card's port

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

The laptop slid off its stand last night when I was in another room, pulling the network cable out as it went. The little wire contacts in the Xircom cardbus NIC/modem's port got all whopperjawed. :P I tried to bend them back so they'd make the right contact when the network cable was plugged in, but only succeeded in making it worse -- don't have the right tools! They have them on eBay for under $30, but dang it.

We still have the desktop computer and it's fine, thank goodness. And the modem part of the laptop's card still works, just not the network port. But because of that, I don't have network access to my saved photos or e-mails from the laptop unless I sneaker-net 'em over on disks (or SmartMedia card, hmmmmm!) or e-mail 'em to myself.

Just had to vent, LOL.
