mushrooms in VA
The majority look like toadstools to me. I sure wouldn't try eating them. This is the big season for toadstools around here. I'm kicking them loose from the lawn all the time.
They look delicious. However, I don`t know, if these are edible. I collect mushrooms my self and enjoy them very much. We are about to enter into the season here in Denmark. Many of them tastes yummy! We have a little, dark brown one growing in lawns and it grows in circles. When fried on a pan it is a tiny bit bitter, but overall taste is like roasted bacon.
Our big mushroom season is in the spring, April and early May. We have Morel mushrooms and they are so good. I just won't trust anything around here that looks like a toadstool. Your mushrooms in VA might be, and probably are, totally different that here in the midwest.
my husband said they were toad stools too what is the difference between them and mushrooms ..anyone?
hi Dufus! I think that toadstools are the ones that toads use to get to the cookies when they are hidden way up in the cabinet!
Are you sure you meant to post on the brug forum? We do not mind, but I bet there are people on Dave's that know much more than most of us here on the brug forearm know about mushrooms. Do not tell anyone here I said this, but I have noticed all of their brains seem to get stuck at Brugs and do not go further in the alphabet than that.
I think toadstools may be the ones that are considered poisonous.
So Brugie, we love morels here also. Do you go picking them. I pick mine at the farmers' market and I think I paid $40 a pound...........last time. Of course I did not buy a pound......LOL!
Tonny, you could make a fortune here with that one.........tastes like bacon without the fat!!
