I get a lot of my plants at Used Plant sales at our local conservatory. They seldom come with names, though. Here is a tree fern I got earlier this summer, can anyone provide its name for me, and good suggestions for caring for it? I haven't had one before, and I am getting nervous about keeping it thriving during the upcoming winter. Right now the main stem is only a few inches tall, but it seems to be gaining height pretty fast the past couple of weeks. Windsurffer took this beautiful photo for me.

Thios is Blechnum gibbum.....small tree fern..gets about 3 feet tall at maturity...needs cool temps .no high summer heat and the trunk needs misting every day year round.Keep moist not wet and never let dry completely or it will die. feed sparingly..ferns don't need much food.Use a good draining soil with lots of peat in it.:-)
