With the drought not a lot of folks have been buying, so instead of waiting until end of Oct lots of stuff has been on sale.

Hey Shirley...have you been to valley veiw lately? I went about 2 weeks ago, not impressed with the perennials, but nice selection of pond plants and tropicals :) Of course...theirs are not marked down yet though :(
Haven't been to Valley View in quite a long time, years probably. They seem to be quite pricey, but do carry a nice selection of plants. Metzlers Nursery is very close to me and they seem quite comparable.
I DEFINITELY HAVE TO check out Homestead Nurseries. Would you believe I haven't been there before!!! Unbelieveable, isn't it!!!!! I LOVE sales and have very little will power when it comes to plants at reduced prices :~) If you want to go on another road trip, let me know...

I try to go once a week or every other week. They have several tables the call "compost" of plants that are usually starting to go dormant from heat time of year etc. They are anywhere from 20-75% off. This time of year the tables are always full of great bargains.
All daylilies have been 50% off for a while now, and most all tropicals are too. Usually by the end of Oct everything is reduced. I'm thinking it might be earlier this year though since a lot of people haven't bought much in the way of plants due to the drought we've had.
Also through out the year they have festivals. Crepe Myrtle, daylily, pond etc.
It is the BEST nursery I have found in MD, not that I have checked out everyone of them but quite a few, LOL.
Just let me know when you want to go, would love to have a "shopping partner in crime" LOL. Like I said, I go frequently :)
