Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

OMG, I gotta have that one!! It's beautyful!!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

What next? Is this a new one, or an old one with a new name?? Never ends.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

SOMEBODY get me some water...***I jus fainted**.......

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

It's $25 - says that it's the first tetraploid brugmansia from Terra Nova.

FSH, TX

Okay, wheres the Rothkirch tetraploid?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Oh, wonder why I didn't notice that one in my Terra Nova book? I can order from Terra Nova.
Tetraploid? I just noticed that!! Hmmm, the mad scientist may have to come out and get to work!! I have about 45 seedlings from seeds I treated with Kinetin. The ones from the colchicine and caffeine didn't germinate.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

It's probably a lot cheaper to get it from there.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

You just have to meet the minimum.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

What's the minimum?

FSH, TX

The problem with tetraploids is they only breed with tetraploids.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Well brugman ... we need you hybridizers to make some more tetraploids!!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I'll kill to get that one!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

OK OK, hold your horses. I'll check on it. I may have to use a broker, it's been a while since I bought from Terra Nova and I think I threw the catalog away last week.

FSH, TX

What I really want to see...Is what that tetraploid multihybrid flower looks like. Any tetraploid HG or other doubles available.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It's not on their website yet. They have two other introductions listed for brugmansia: Sunset and Suaveolens variegata. They also introduced Missouri Marble Datura.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

It must be a new one cuz it's a new listing on the Glassworks site.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Is that for REAL??? KATHUNK!!
Does it bloom? or just have gorgeous leaves?
I have a hosta that looks like this. WOW!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Boy is that beautiful. Okay what is a tetraploid?

FSH, TX

I want to see some of Monika's pink doubles doubled. Ie made tetraploid.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Boy, that is a beaut. Would love to have one myself.

Hamilton, Canada

Oh lawd that is a beauty. Just look at that foliage!!! I'm in line for this one for sure!

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

I wanna get in line too!!! I know let's make a train, who remembers the song Locomotion. We should be able to call aboard enough to meet a minimum.

Cala, maybe Sunset and Suaveolens variegata is also tetraploids? They come from the same nest. *lol* That is always a place to start. Daturas contain polyploid seeds in each capsule, so I think there is a chance that Brugs do the same, but is it worthwile to grow out an entire Brug pod to flower and cross the tetraploid to all of them and see, which takes? However, difficult, but a way to go.

Very nice. Does anyone have a link for this place. I searched it but came up with 28,900 sites.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Here brugcrazy http://207.89.182.149/catalog2002.html

Thanks poppysue.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

I just got this and it is nice.
No one paid attention when I posted about it a couple months back. LOL

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Does anyone know what the bloom looks like? I looked at the site - did I miss the bloom part?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

It says peach colored blooms. Here's their description

"61601 BRUGMANSIA SNOWBANK SOL CGH H $ 25.00 Variegated Angel's Trumpet. A fragrant peach colored bloom of immense proportions emerges from some of the most brilliant and broad margined foliage you have ever seen. The First tetraploid Brugmansia. From Terra Nova"

Abutilon - did you get it from Glassworks? They don't seem to have a very good reputation in the Garden Watchdog.

Abutilon,
I noticed....lots of times I just look. :0)

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

what does SOL CGH H mean?

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Poppysue, mine is from Terra Nova.
I spoke with the owner about the flower. He said like Sunset. I said you mean Maya?
(Think he went to check out ;-)
But the variegation is green at the leaf center to broad white at the edge. It was developed by TN.

No flowers yet on mine ..lol But can send a real foliage photo ..if anyone wants.

By the way .. 'Snowbank' is a patented plant.
First 'patented' brug ????

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Please?? Can we see??

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I'd like to see it too if you can get a picture.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

WOW I want one!!!!

Hamilton, Canada

Suaveolens variagata is Klerx variagata isn't it? Now there are Klerx, Oro variagata, Sunset and Maya, Peaches and Cream, and Snowbank. Are Sunset and Maya the same plant with different names-just wondering.? Barb and Cala have a variagated sport on one of their brugs too. Anyone else have a sport on one of their brugs?

I have a variegated green and yellow brug. It's a year old, not even a foot tall but very healthy. It was a sport off a suaveolens from Dennis in Vancouver. It is the slowest growing brug in the world I think.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Cala, if you have a minimum, it seems you can order just Snowbank, one for us all and meet it!!

Hamilton, Canada

Question? has anyone tried crossing a variagated to another variagated? Brugcrazy did Dennis's sport ever flower?
