Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ruby that is so pretty! I bet that light color really sparkles in the dark pond.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

whoops. That is mislabeled. It IS Marliac Carnea. lol My DH got some labels mixed up. (hiding under my arm right now in shame that you got one of the mislabeled ones. I thought that I had kept all of those till they were blooming and I could make positive id. When you are transplanting about 50 different ones in one day you are bound to make a mistake at the end of a long day. giggle

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I hereby volunteer to accept all the mistakes! E me for my address! LOL It is really pretty no matter what the name is. :)

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

You got it BS. I will send you the mistakes from now on. You will have to build a much bigger pond though LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I'll start digging right now! If that is what your mistakes look like, I will dig up the whole darn yard. LOL

A related question: can anyone tell me if Marliac Carnea (aka Apple Blossom) and Mary Exquisita (aka Marliacea Carnea) are all one and the same? We have them listed separately in the PDB, but I've wondered whether that's accurate... (and of course, I'm going to beg Ruby42 to post her photo - just as soon as I know which entry to point her toward!)

Just let me know where to post it go_vols and I will!!!!!!

IMHO Marliac Carnea is also known as Marliac Flesh or Morning Glory . Joseph Marliac bred it or discovered it in 1887 and it was one of his best creations according to many. It is similar to Marliac Rosea but the latter is about two shades deeper in pink. I also have Rosea and it is pretty too but I prefer the subtle beauty of Carnea. I have never seen any reference to Mary Exquisita until your letter here but I have seen the listing for Marliacea Carnea in my reading about water lilies. I have studied water lilies for about 10 years but that doesn't mean that these variaties don't exist. I just don't know about them and I have found that many nurseries have made their own names for things if they lost labels or divided them a-sexually before the patent was up. So you can come to your own conclusions on this one. Maybe somebody else has further information on this subject. Lani

Lani, I would love to have some also. Let me know how much to send.
