Still learningIs this a Y?

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Took this picture today and still hoping for blooms. I've had many plants do this and thought they were Y's, but want someone to verify it.

Hi Joan. It is a Y and a Y and a Y again! look in the hollow of the Y.......any little tiny buds?

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Kell, that's what I've been thinking. But, no buds showing up anywhere. Anytime I think there may be a bud, it grows up to be a leaf!

I'm still anticipating my first brug bloom.

It will happen, just a matter of when!

Yes it is Y and be patience it will come.. :)

Thats a Y, Joan! Dont worry about missing buds. Some hybrids build up branches first and then buds. Especially versicolor influenced hybrids do this.

You can start looking for the sub equal leaves now to pass your time waiting.

Update, I have buds forming all over the place! I've been watching very closely. I'm not going to let anything happen to these. I'm so excited!

Good for you!!! Post pictures when the event starts!!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I too, have been waiting, Seems like in Ohio, doesn't happen until September no matter how hard I try, fert. watering, etc.

Monika is correct, versicolers are very late.

It is well worth the wait!!!

Waiting is the worst but then all of sudden the buds are there! I have buds on 2 of mine that I had given up on!!

This is so exciting, and mine are potted and come in every night to avoid the surprise frost that my happpen here. Then when we get into the new house Oct. 1st, they will either have their own place in the house, or I need to figure out how to let them go dormant in the basement and still live until spring. Any ideas? One of these I raised from seed, so I'm not willing to just let it go away. These are like my kids already.

All my brugs are going into the basement too. It stays 66 degrees, so I hope they slow down a lot. Obviously fertilizer will be discontinued and light will be minimized. I am guessing they will look pretty scroungy come spring. On the first year seedlings, if they haven't y'd do you still need to cut them back or just remove the leaves?

RiseAnn,
I'd just remove the leaves on the young plants.

Thanks Glory - :)

Okay, so when you put them in the basement, you remove all the leaves and keep them in the dark? Water how often?
